Burr & Betsy Morse of Morse Farm in East Montpelier have been welcomed as Honorary Chairs of Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice’s Spring Campaign. In their letter to Friends of CVHHH, which was mailed to hundreds of members of the community at the end of May, Burr & Betsy note the importance of CVHHH’s work in promoting independence.
Gay Landstrom named interim CEO at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center
Gay L. Landstrom, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, has been named interim Chief Executive Officer of Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC).
Landstrom, who serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock health system, will serve temporarily while MAHHC conducts a search for a successor to Kevin W. Donovan, who was named CEO at LRGHealthcare in Laconia, NH, on May 4. Donovan will leave Mt. Ascutney Hospital on June 15, 2016.

Norwich University continues its 2016 Todd Lecture Series with “Building Peace in a Fragile World,” a presentation by President of the United States Institute of Peace Nancy Lindborg, on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. in Plumley Armory.
This lecture is free and open to the public and will be streamed live at tls.norwich.edu.
Lindborg has served since February 2015 as President of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), an independent institution founded by Congress to provide practical solutions for preventing and resolving violent conflict around the world.
Sonce Pearce, RN Receives Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses
Rutland Regional Medical Center’s Sonce Pearce, a registered nurse at the ENT & Audiology Clinic, was honored for excellent care by the DAISY Foundation. The DAISY Award is a nation-wide program that recognizes nursing excellence.
BMH’s Debi Lynch is Named Employee of the Year 2016
BMH President and CEO Steve R. Gordon announced that Debi Lynch, Payroll Specialist and Administrative Assistant for Finance has been named BMH’s Employee of the Year.
The annual award is always a closely guarded secret until the winner is announced at the annual Ice Cream Social that caps off BMH’s Employee Appreciation Week. Gordon presented Lynch with her award after first dropping a number of hints throughout his speech highlighting her 25 years of service to the hospital, and the numerous accolades she has received from her co-workers.

Vermont Information Technology Leaders board of directors elects new chair, appoints four board members
The Vermont Information Technology Leaders, Inc. (VITL) board of directors continues to affirm the organization’s commitment to improving the quality and efficiency of Vermont’s health care system, by recently electing Bruce D. Bullock, M.D. as the new board chairperson. Since September 2015 VITL has also welcomed four new board members, each bringing extensive knowledge from several health care sectors. The new board members are: Michael Del Trecco, Representative Avram Patt, Richard Elmore and Jerry Ford.
Congressman Welch honored as National Retail Federation Legislator of the Year
The National Retail Federation announced that Congressman Peter Welch, D-Vt., is one of the retail advocate’s Legislator of the Year honorees. Sen. Tim Scott, R-South Carolina, was honored with the Legislator of the Year distinction in the Senate. The award was presented on Tuesday during the Retail Advocates Summit, NRF’s annual congressional fly-in.
