Vincent Miller, MD announced as interim director of clinical simulation
The Clinical Simulation Laboratory at the University of Vermont has announced the appointment of Vincent Miller, MD, assistant professor of anesthesiology, as interim director of clinical simulation, effective September 1, 2016. Miller succeeds Ted James, MD, who served as director of clinical simulation from July 2012 through June 2016.

Jill Mazza Olson appointed Executive Director of VNAs of Vermont
Jill Mazza Olson has been appointed Executive Director of the VNAs of Vermont, the 10-member association of non-profit home health and hospice agencies serving all Vermonters. Olson, who worked most recently as the Vice President of Policy and Legislative Affairs at the Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (VAHHS), assumes the role on October 10.
PWW ‘Ripple Awards’ honor committed change-makers
Pure Water for the World, Inc (PWW) recently honored two distinguished groups with the “PWW Ripple Award,” for their overwhelming dedication to bring sustainable safe water solutions to children and families living in the most underserved communities in Haiti. “It’s a crazy concept that, in America, we can flip a switch and have clean water. Here, they spend hours just to get unclean water." This was a statement shared last October by South Burlington High School student, Hannah Fisher, on the final day of her volunteer trip to Haiti with PWW.

Heintz honored with UVM’s Distinguished University Citizenship and Service Award
University of Vermont President Tom Sullivan has announced that Nicholas Heintz, PhD, professor emeritus of pathology and laboratory medicine, is the recipient of the 2016 President’s Distinguished University Citizenship and Service Award. This annual award honors members of the UVM faculty who have established a consistent and – over time – outstanding record of service to the university community and is designed to acknowledge exceptional service by an individual who is recognized as a true university citizen for contributions to institutional building at the university.
Attorney Avi Springer joins Langrock Sperry & Wool as associate
Avi J Springer has joined Langrock Sperry & Wool, LLP as an associate, working primarily in the areas of criminal defense, family law, and other litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Avi worked as a public defender in New York City, where he represented clients in the appeals of their felony convictions and other post-conviction matters. He then worked as a trial attorney representing parents in child welfare proceedings in family court. In addition, Avi served as a law clerk for the Hon William K Sessions III in the US District Court in Burlington, VT.
