Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) is proud to announce the winners of the SVMC Orthopedics Active Lifestyle Photo Contest. Awards were presented before a crowd of 100 attendees at an SVMC Orthopedics Open House the evening of Wednesday, June 22. The contest drew nearly 70 entries between January and April. Participants’ photos were judged based on creativity, photographic quality, genuineness, connection to local community, and relation to an active life. Judges included Jonathan Cluett, MD, and a team from SVMC Orthopedics; local artist Rita Dee; and photographer Greg Nesbit.
Synchronicity Web Designs, a boutique marketing and development firm, has officially opened the doors of its satellite office in the town of Jericho, Vermont, located 20 minutes east of Burlington. Founded in Chittenden County in 1999, Sync moved operations to Charlotte, NC, in the mid-aughts to grow and expand its business footprint. Today, Synchronicity’s team is based in Charlotte with two additional satellite offices, including the newest in Vermont.
Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Board of Trustees elected three new members during the Board’s meeting June 22-23, 2017. Edward Stansfield; Pamela Austin Thompson, MS, RN, CENP, FAAN; and Marc B Wolpow were elected to three-year terms on the Board effective July 1, 2017. “In the increasingly complex and rapidly evolving world of health care, it’s imperative that our Board comprise a broad range of disciplines and expertise,” said Anne-Lee Verville, Chair of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health Board of Trustees.
gbA Architecture & Planning (formerly known as Gossens Bachman Architects) is thrilled to announce the addition of two new team members, Steven Clark, AIA, and Charles Thaxter. Steve Clark was born and raised in Central Vermont. He grew up working for his father’s construction company, where he developed a strong interest in historic preservation and architecture. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from the Syracuse University School of Architecture, and has worked for a number of firms throughout Vermont.

Bishop Christopher Coyne, President of Rice Memorial High School and Sister Laura Dell Santa, Principal are pleased to announce the addition of Neil Brodeur as Athletic Director. A 1985 graduate of Rice, long-time football and baseball coach, and Rice Hall of Fame member, Brodeur will replace Interim Athletic Director Tom Langan starting in July. “We are proud to have Neil join the Rice leadership team at Rice,” Bishop Coyne said. “As a graduate, Neil understands that athletics and extracurriculars are an important part of the Rice experience.

After 9 years as Community Impact Director in Caledonia and Southern Essex Counties for Green Mountain United Way, Nelson Baker will retire on June 30th. “After my 76th birthday, I began to focus on the fact that I am now closer to 80 than I was to 70 years of age. I am grateful for the last nine years of my “retirement job” with Green Mountain United Way but I now want to focus on spending more time with family and friends.”, announced Nelson in an email to partners, supporters and colleagues on June 8.
