Greshin replaces Pallito as Finance commissioner

Vermont Business Magazine Governor Phil Scott today announced he has appointed Adam Greshin as commissioner of the Department of Finance and Management. Greshin is a state representative and part owner of Sugarbush. Hereplaces former Commissioner Andy Pallito, who will become thedirector of health system finances for theGreen Mountain Care Board.

The Department is responsible for coordinating the governor’s budget recommendations, delivering reliable financial information, advocating for responsible use of taxpayer dollars and supporting the State’s accounting system.

Greshin, 56, has served as an Independent in the Vermont House of Representatives since 2009, representing the towns of Warren, Waitsfield, Fayston, Moretown and Duxbury. During the 2017 session, Greshin served on the House Committee on Education, and previously sat for one year on the Healthcare Committee and seven years on the Ways & Means Committee.

Since 2002, Greshin has been a partner in Summit Ventures NE, LLC, which owns Sugarbush Resort. He oversees guest and community relations and sits on the executive committee for the company.

“Adam is a valuable addition to our Administration and with his business and legislative experience, brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the needs of Vermonters, as well as the critical need for fiscal responsibility, to the position,” said Scott. “His experience on House Education and Health committees also give him important insight into the State’s largest expenditures as we look to make the best use of taxpayer dollars in those areas and beyond.”

Prior to his work at Sugarbush, Greshin was a research analyst and lead portfolio manager in the global bond group at Scudder Stevens & Clark for 16 years, and became a Chartered Financial Analyst in 1990.

“I feel honored to join governor Scott and his administration. I am eager to assist him in achieving his goals to make Vermont more affordable and economically prosperous, while protecting the most vulnerable. The budget is a critical policy document and certainly a valuable tool in advancing that effort,” said Greshin.

Greshin earned a B.A. in romance languages and in economics from Bowdoin College and an M.A. in law and diplomacy from Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He lives in Warren with his wife, Anne, and their three children.
Greshin will start his new role on July 10, 2017.
