SVC to honor Snap-on Incorporated Chairman and CEO at commencement

Southern Vermont College (SVC) will honor Nicholas T Pinchuk, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Snap-on Incorporated, at the College’s 91st Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 12. In April 2007, Pinchuk became president and chief operating officer, as well as a member of the board of directors, at Snap-on Incorporated. In December 2007, he was elected as chief executive officer and was named chairman of the company in April 2009. Pinchuk joined Snap-on in 2002 as senior vice president and president of Snap-on’s Worldwide Commercial and Industrial Group.

Deitz joins NFP as account manager for personal insurance

NFP, a leading insurance broker and consultant that provides employee benefits, property & casualty (P&C), retirement and individual private client solutions, has announced that Lois Deitz has joined its team in Rutland as an Account Manager for personal insurance. In her new role, Deitz will be responsible for maintaining excellent customer relations in the personal lines segments. She will focus on offering risk management analysis and insurance coverage reviews for existing clients. Deitz brings with her more than 28 years’ experience in the insurance industry.

Vermont Mountaineers hire Whalen as radio broadcaster

The Vermont Mountaineers announced today the hiring of Andrew Whalen, a senior at Lyndon State College as their play-by-play broadcaster for the 2018 NECBL baseball season. Whalen was an anchor for News7, the college’s fully functioning newsroom, during his tenure at Lyndon State. In addition to his journalism degree, Whalen will also graduate with an Associates in Business Administration. Adding experience to call of the game, Whalen is also a four-year member of Lyndon’s baseball team, where he holds the school record for saves with 13.

Vermont Secretary of State Jim Condos attends NASS Winter Conference and meets with top DHS officials

Secretary of State Jim Condos and Deputy Secretary Chris Winters travelled to DC this past weekend to attend the annual National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) 2018 Winter Conference. They joined 34 other Secretaries of State and Lieutenant Governors, 300 senior state government staff, and private sector representatives for workshops and discussions around cyber security, voter participation, business registration, election auditing and a number of other important topics.

Vermont PharmD student to represent ACPHS in national patient counseling competition for second time

Seema Jaipal, a P4 student at the Vermont Campus of the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS), will represent the college for the second consecutive year at the APhA-ASP National Patient Counseling Competition to be held in Nashville, TN, in March. Jaipal earned her spot in the national event after winning a local competition. The goal of the Patient Counseling Competition is to encourage student pharmacists in their efforts toward becoming better patient educators.
