MAHHC welcomes cardiologist Ahmad to growing team of specialist providers

Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC) is pleased to announce that board-certified cardiologist Dr Shawn M. Ahmad has joined the Hospital’s growing team of specialist providers. Dr Ahmad will provide initial cardiology consultations and follow-up appointments on an outpatient basis at the Hospital’s primary care clinic. His focus is on diagnostic cardiology and noninvasive treatment, with cardiac procedures being referred to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC).

Apelquist joins Gifford Health Care

Maryellen Apelquist, a communications professional with 20 years of experience, recently joined the development, marketing, and public relations team at Gifford Health Care. As Gifford’s communications specialist, Apelquist will manage media relations and create content to engage and inform the greater Gifford community about patient services and providers, community health outreach, and new programs and initiatives.

Daley launches newest book, Going Up The Country: When the Hippies, Dreamers, Freaks, and Radicals Moved to Vermont

Join author Yvonne Daley of Southern Vermont and retired Historical Society curator Jackie Calder for a talk and reading to celebrate the launch of Daley's newest book, Going Up The Country: When the Hippies, Dreamers, Freaks, and Radicals Moved to Vermont (UPNE press). Tom Slayton, who wrote the forward, will make an introduction. Free and open to the public. A Vermont Arts 2018 program of the Vermont Arts Council.

Five nurses honored at MAHHC’s first annual Nurses Week Awards

Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC) recently hosted a gathering of employees and friends at the first annual Nurses Week Awards, which was inaugurated to recognize nursing professionals who go above and beyond for their patients and colleagues. The event was held as part of National Nurses Week, which was celebrated from May 6 to May 12. Light refreshments were served.

Dar Williams to speak at creative economy forum, perform in concert at Chandler

Noted singer-songwriter, author, and community activist Dar Williams will make two appearances at the Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph this coming Saturday, June 9. Williams will first address a gathering of regional artists, arts presenters, economic development officials, creative economy advocates, and interested community members in Chandler’s Upper Gallery at 3 pm on Saturday.
