Wing joins Stern Center for Language & Learning’s Board of Directors

Adam Wing will join the Board of Directors at the Stern Center for Language and Learning when it convenes its 35th Annual Meeting on October 11, 2018. In his current role as Vice President of Global Business for AbleNet, Adam is responsible for business development, strategic partnerships, and global revenue. Adam brings experience managing multi-channel strategies and directing business development on a global scale to the Stern Center’s new initiative to bring the latest brain science in literacy to elementary educators in Vermont and nationally.

Vermont Tech student captures third-place finish at TMC Futuretech competition

Cody Bryan from North Clarendon, VT finished third overall in the 2018 edition of the TMC Futuretech National Student Technician Competition held in Orlando Florida September 17th and 18th. Futruretech is a competition for post-secondary student technicians held by the Technology and Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Association during their annual fall meeting. In a field of 33 contestants, Cody also won one skill station. Cody, a VAST graduate and a second year Diesel technology student, received a new tool storage unit and many other prizes worth approximately $5,000.

VCRD awards its annual Vermont Community Leadership Award & Community Leadership Lifetime Achievement Award

Over 500 Vermonters from over 130 different towns gathered at Castleton University today to hear from 90 different presenters and to continue a statewide conversation about how we can nurture great leaders in our local communities. Vermont Council on Rural Development’s “Making It Happen! Local Leadership for the Future of Vermont Communities” features skills workshops, case studies of success, and facilitated conversations about recruiting and supporting great leaders. As part of the day’s events, VCRD presented its Lifetime Achievement Award and Community Leadership Award.

Charlene Ives, MD, accepts role as Medical Director of SVRCC

Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) is pleased to announce that Charlene Ives, MD, has accepted the role as the medical director of the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center (SVRCC).

“I am excited to provide leadership for the Cancer Center,” said Dr. Ives. “We have a dedicated team of experts committed to providing excellent and compassionate care, and it is a privilege to care for cancer patients and their families, who are our friends and neighbors.”

Okemo welcomes new director of food and beverage

Okemo Mountain Resort welcomes Jason Palmer as its new director of food and beverage. He will oversee all aspects of the resort’s culinary operations on a year-round basis. A native Vermonter originally from Colchester, Palmer started skiing when he was 5 years old and competed on his high school ski team. He is a graduate of The University of Vermont. While attending college, he worked in restaurants and “got hooked” on the creativity and energy of the industry.

Hadley qualifies for New York Life's President Council, Premiere

Scott Hadley CLU ChFC, of Hadley Financial Group, has been named a member of New York Life's President Council- Premiere. Hadley has been an agent with New York Life since 1998, a financial adviser with Eagle Strategies LLC since 2009, and is associated with the Vermont General Office in Colchester.

Scott has been a long-time Board member of the King Street Center, serving on the Executive Committee, and is the President-Elect of NAIFA-VT. He resides in Shelburne.

Kindestin selected as recipient of VSO’s TD Ambassador Scholarship

The Vermont Symphony Orchestra (VSO) and TD Bank yesterday announced Castleton University sophomore Erik Kindestin as the winner of the organizations’ joint TD Ambassador Scholarship. Kindestin, a resident of Barre, Vt., is a sophomore at Castleton University where he participates in at least 15 service hours each semester and plays in the school’s marching and spirit bands. As a lifelong fan of music, Kindestin has attended the VSO’s Summer Festival Tour and Holiday Pops concerts since he was three years old.

Lynde of TD Bank named Outstanding Community Service Banker

Carl M Lynde of TD Bank, a long-time commercial banker in Brattleboro, has received the 2018 Outstanding Community Service Banker Award from the Vermont Bankers Association. The VBA recognized Lynde for his deep commitment to and support of businesses and non-profit organizations in Brattleboro and across southern Vermont over more than three decades serving in his community. Each year the Vermont Bankers Association honors a member of the banking industry for their devotion of service through civic and community engagement.
