Brattleboro Memorial Hospital CEO Gordon named chair of VAHHS board

The Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (VAHHS) today announced Steven R. Gordon, President and CEO at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital (BMH) will serve as chair of the board for the organization. VAHHS is the statewide advocacy association representing all of Vermont’s non-profit hospitals and health systems. Gordon has served as President and CEO of BMH since 2011.

Bernagozzi named Senior Commercial Project Manager at BlackRock Construction

Armand Bernagozzi has joined BlackRock Construction, a division of Adam Hergenrother Companies, as the Senior Commercial Project Manager. With over 30 years of office and field experience, Armand oversees all aspects of a project from start to finish including, estimating, project planning, bidding, budget control, and scheduling. This includes maintaining the highest quality level of workmanship and monitoring all trade and field personnel, while administering good construction safety practices with all on-site activities.

Rutland Regional welcomes DeNicco

Rutland Regional Medical Center is pleased to welcome Andrew P. DeNicco, MD to our Hospital Medicine team. Dr. DeNicco received his Medical Degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is board-certified in internal medicine and completed his internship and residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami Florida.

Schapiro and Polish win Stern Center’s 'Above and Beyond' Award

Deborah Schapiro and Lou Polish, MD, shared the honor of winning this year’s Above and Beyond Award at the Stern Center for Language and Learning’s 36th Annual Meeting on October 10, 2019. The award is given annually to someone who demonstrates exceptional commitment to the Stern Center’s mission to promote literacy and learning across the lifespan. Staff members are ineligible. Ms. Schapiro and Dr. Polish were recognized for their support over the past year which made possible the Stern Center’s latest publication, Activities, Games, and Lessons in Social Learning: A Practical Guide.

Montpelier middle school teacher named 2020 Vermont Teacher of the Year

The Agency of Education is pleased to announce that Elisabeth Kahn, a French and Spanish teacher at Main Street Middle School in Montpelier, is the 2020 Vermont Teacher of the Year. Ms Kahn’s selection was announced at an all-school assembly at the school. Kahn will begin her tenure as Vermont Teacher of the Year on Jan 1, 2020.

Also recognized were the 2020 Vermont Teacher of the Year Distinguished Finalists, Bethany Morrissey, an Elementary teacher at Salisbury Community School and Emily Therrien, a Grade 10 English and Social Studies teacher at Randolph Union High School.
