Red Cross employee deploying to Louisiana for Laura relief efforts
The Northern New England Region of the American Red Cross continues to deploy people to major disaster relief efforts, with an employee from Waterbury the latest assigned to the Hurricane Laura operation. Erica Fuller, a senior volunteer recruitment specialist, will report to Baton Rouge, La., as a shelter worker.
“The Red Cross is working tirelessly to help people devastated by Hurricane Laura. I’m humbled to be part of the effort to help affected residents recover from this disaster however we can,” Fuller said.

Beloved camp director puts heart, soles into Long Trail hike to raise awareness for scouting’s outdoor programs
Since his earliest days in Richmond, Clint Buxton has yearned to conquer the Long Trail. When COVID-19 dashed his final season as summer camp director at Mt. Norris Scout Reservation in Eden, the suddenly-unemployed 61-year-old decided to lace up his hiking boots to raise awareness and much-needed support for Vermont’s outdoor Scouting programs.
