Norwich University’s Peace and War Center awards student 2021 Richard S Schultz ’60 Symposium Fellowship
Norwich University’s John and Mary Frances Patton Peace and War Center has awarded the 2021 Richard S Schultz ’60 Symposium Fellowship to Larenz Simpkins, Class of ’23, of New London, Connecticut. The Norwich University Peace & War Center awards this annual fellowship, which includes a $2,500 grant, to an undergraduate student for a single project that may involve additional Norwich undergraduate students. The award follows wide solicitation and competitive selection.

Coldwell Banker Carlson Real Estate was awarded the Number One Office in North America for Coldwell Banker offices with 1-10 sales associates for 2020. The brother and sister broker/owner team McKee and Maggie Macdonald accepted the coveted Eagle’s Ridge Statuette from Coldwell Banker in recognition of this company achievement. Additionally, their agency received its fifth consecutive Premier Office Gold Award for 2020.
One of Gifford’s newest employees wins Emmy award
When Scott Fleishman joined Gifford Health Care this month as a communications specialist, he brought with him several major accomplishments from 20 years in the broadcasting industry. However, last weekend Fleishman achieved a first-time honor that rivals his other achievements. He won a New England Emmy for Human Interest reporting.
“It was a complete surprise,” Fleishman said. “It’s a goal I’ve been chasing for a very long time, so to finally win one after more than a dozen nominations, is just completely satisfying.”
The Vermont Community Foundation welcomes Lux as a David Rahr Community Philanthropy Fellow
The Vermont Community Foundation is pleased to welcome Britney Lux as its next David Rahr Community Philanthropy Fellow. Britney joins the Community Foundation after graduating from Middlebury College with a major in Geography in May 2021. At Middlebury, Britney participated in PALANA and Women of Color, two organizations that are focused on creating connections and fostering a safe space for BIPOC students. In her free time, she also enjoyed getting cremees with friends, having Posse dinners, and going on a hike for the first time.
Otter Creek Engineering promotes Rakowski to VP
Otter Creek Engineering (OCE), a civil/environmental consulting engineering firm, today announced the promotion of Brent F. Rakowski, P.E. to Vice President and equity partner. Brent will continue to serve in his existing capacity as a senior project engineer while also taking on a leadership role within the firm to aide in the mentorship and development of our staff.

Doleszny promoted at Brattleboro Savings & Loan
Jessica Doleszny has been promoted to serve as a Credit Analyst in Brattleboro Savings & Loan’s Commercial Banking Department. In her new position, she will be responsible for analyzing and underwriting commercial loan requests and renewals for presentation and approval by the Bank’s loan officers and Loan Committee. Peter Carvell, BS&L’s Vice President and Senior Commercial Lender, said “Jess has been so motivated to learn and continue her career at the Bank, and I couldn’t be happier to have her join our team.”
