The Vermont Abenaki Artists Association announced that master artist Joseph Bruchac has been honored with a Poet Laureate Fellowship Award from the Academy of American Poets. This distinguished award, which includes a $50,000 grant, celebrates Bruchac's exceptional contributions to literature and music, which reflect his Indigenous heritage and traditions.

“We are so proud of Joe and his accomplishments,” said Vera Longtoe Sheehan, executive director of the VAAA. “He inspires people of all ages to reach for their dreams.”
