Employees Will Join Thousands of Americans for
National Walk @ Lunch DaySM on April 18, 2007
Berlin, Vermont - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont and its 350+ employees will join Blue plans across the country in hosting the first annual National Walk @ Lunch DaySM on April 18, 2007.
Walk @ Lunch Day is a workplace walking program, which encourages people to take time during their lunch breaks to start walking toward better health and is nationally sponsored by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont will hold special events in Burlington, Montpelier and Rutland; BCBSVT representatives expect thousands of Vermonters to participate.
In addition to the more than 350 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont employees, for example, employees from the following BCBSVT groups will also participate:

Clifford of Vermont Selected to Supply Fiber for North-Link Network.
The network will promote economic development in rural Vermont communities
St. Albans, VT (March 19, 2007) Northern Enterprises, Inc., a 501(C)3 non-profit organization is pleased to announce that a Vermont Company, Clifford of Vermont, will be awarded a fiber optic cable purchase agreement for the Northeast Kingdom portion of the North-Link network.
The North-Link project is a 400-mile open access fiber optic network covering eight counties where there are limited, affordable broadband communication services.
The North-Link network will provide this rural region an affordable backbone for high-speed Internet access allowing for economic growth, development, and sustainability.
Clifford of Vermont, a Power & Tel Company, is a national distributor of wire, cable, fiber optic, electronic and wireless products, and related supplies and equipment.
BURLINGTON, Vt.--Champlain College will confer honorary degrees on two prominent Vermont residents at its 129th Commencement on May 5, 2007. The Board of Trustees of Champlain College selected retiring Saint Michael's College President Marc A. vanderHeyden and Champlain College Trustee Emeritus Lola P. Aiken for this honor.
Aiken and vanderHeyden will be awarded honorary doctoral degrees from the private, professionally focused college.
Additionally, vanderHeyden will deliver the Commencement Address at Champlain College's ceremony.
"These two individuals come from very different backgrounds, but they both have created positive changes in Vermont's cultural, historical and educational landscapes," said Champlain College President David F. Finney.
"At Commencement time, we're pleased to honor their many contributions while reminding our graduates that they also have the power to make indelible marks on their communities and the world."

Montpelier - The Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund (www.vsjf.org) announced today that Janice St. Onge has been named its new Deputy Director.
Ms. St. Onge replaces Ed Delhagen who served as the organization's Deputy Director for 7 years and who recently joined the staff of the Asia Foundation to work on a special project in Mongolia. Ms. St. Onge will begin her duties on Monday, March 19.
"We are very pleased that Janice will be joining our team at the Sustainable Jobs Fund. She has strong and deep networks statewide, within the economic development community, within the investor community, and within the UVM community," said Ellen Kahler, Executive Director of the Fund.

BURLINGTON, Vt.--Champlain College students Heather Littlefield, Anna Wisniewska, Alina Stanciu and Emily Howland have been working atthe Vermont Global Trade Partnership (VGTP) during the spring 2007 semester.
These Champlain College students earned their internships through a competitive interview process.
Vermont business people access a broad range of trade services through the VGTP, a state program which has established an office in the S.D. Ireland Family Center for Global Business and Technology on the Champlain College campus. Champlain offers the only International Business program in the state of Vermont.
Businesses can receive assistance with: reviewing trade regulations, tariffs and logistics, researching new markets, importing and exporting, product sourcing, trade missions, overseas trade shows, and networking opportunities.
Husky Injection to sell
Husky Injection Molding Systems has announced it is putting itself up for sale. They have opened an auction for a Canadian global leader that ranks consistently among the country's best places to work and the most environmentally conscious corporations.
Husky has a factory in Milton, Vermont, which employs 350 people on a 700-acre campus. This facility is one of four plants in the world that makes equipment which is used in the plastic industry for Husky, stated Dirk Schlimm, Husky's vice president of corporate affairs. The other facilities are located in Luxembourg, China and Ontario.

To Tour the State
Burlington, VT--Young Vermonters will have the spontaneous opportunity to create music when the Vermont Symphony Orchestra hits the road with its biannual orchestral youth concert tour April 2-6.
The SymphonyKids concert is a reprise of the popular program "CREATE!" which premiered in December of 2005 at the Flynn Center in Burlington.
David Ludwig, the VSO's New Music Advisor, will again be the emcee.
Young audiences in five magnet locations (see schedule below) will hear music from a wide range of composers, past and present, illustrating such topics as: Can music be recycled? What famous pieces were thought "too modern" at their premieres? Is silence ever music?
