Every year, Vermont Business Magazine and the Vermont Chamber honor a Vermont business that demonstrates an outstanding history of sustained growth while displaying an acute awareness of what makes Vermont unique. The Deane C Davis Outstanding Vermont Business of the Year Award, named for the former Vermont governor and established in 1990, boasts three finalists again this year. They are: Chroma Technology Corp of Bellows Falls, Green Mountain Power of Colchester and ReArch of South Burlington.

Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont House of Representatives Thursday afternoon passed S.43, a bill that prohibits prior authorization requirements for medication-assisted treatment on a unanimous vote. This bill is an important step to increase access to opioid use disorder treatment for Vermonters.

Collections campaign adds feature: Donors can now text to give

Vermont Business Magazine The Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS) and the Church Street Marketplace in Burlington are giving their collection box campaign a new look and a new message. Join us for the official unveiling at 11 a.m. Friday, May 3, in front of Stephen & Burns on the Church Street Marketplace. Launched in 2013, Church Street’s donation boxes, featuring Lake Champlain’s famous monster “Champ” and his sister “Champette,” have collected thousands of dollars for COTS to help people facing the crisis of homelessness in Vermont.

Vermont Business Magazine Vermont Business Magazine and the Vermont Chamber have announced the three finalists for the 2018 Deane C Davis Outstanding Business of the Year Award: Chroma Technology Corp, Bellows Falls, Green Mountain Power, Colchester and ReArch Company, South Burlington. One of these impressive finalists will be named the 2018 Deane C Davis Outstanding Vermont Business of the Year on Wednesday, May 22nd in an awards presentation ceremony at the UVM Grossman School of Business.

Vermont Business Magazine At a press conference Thursday, Governor Phil Scott and Green Up Vermont celebrated the upcoming 49th Annual Green Up Day, taking place Saturday, May 4 in towns throughout Vermont. Since 1970, Vermonters have greened up 13,000 miles of roadside in the nation’s largest and oldest statewide green up event. The governor was joined by Green Up Vermont Board Chairman Mike Casella and the winners of this year’s Green Up Vermont poster and writing contests, which engage Vermont students in promoting Green Up Day awareness. This year’s poster contest winners are Chloe Jenkins of Chester, HeatherAnne Lee of Shelburne, Greta Bernier of Andover and Lyla LaBossiere of Westford, and the writing contest winner is Bella Schultz-Mitchell of Bakersfield.

Vermont Business Magazine Liquid Measurement Systems, Inc (LMS) announced today that, effective immediately, it is reorganizing its internal management structure in order to accelerate decision-making and increase customer responsiveness. The move will eliminate the Georgia-based company’s C-Suite and Operational Team and replace it with a single director-level leadership team that will report to company President William Fewell.

Hall, Vermont Business Magazine In July 2018 the Rutland Southwest and Rutland Central supervisory unions merged, becoming the Greater Rutland County Supervisory Union under the terms of Act 46, which mandated school district mergers across the state. Since then the GRCSU's teachers have been working under the terms of expired contracts with the defunct supervisory unions – contracts that are far from comparable in their conditions.

Frustrated with that arrangement, some 35 of those teachers held an informational picket outside the GRCSU offices on Rutland's Evelyn Street during the afternoon rush hour Tuesday, April 30, to demand a contract.

They include H.7, An act relating to second degree aggravated domestic assault; H.19, An act relating to sexual exploitation of a person in law enforcement officer custody; and H.394, An act relating to the disposition of the remains of veterans.

Vermont Business Magazine ValleyNet, ECFiber's implementation partner, announced today that it has chosen a new Managing Director, Christopher Recchia, of Randolph, VT. Recchia brings a wealth of non-profit and telecom regulatory experience, most notably as the head of Vermont’s Department of Public Service from 2012-2017. “ValleyNet and ECFiber have created a now-proven model for expanding quality high-speed broadband to rural New England and I look forward to expanding its availability to other areas, as well as bringing ECFiber’s network to its full potential,” Chris stated.
