Vermont State Police The northbound travel lane of Interstate 89 just past the Williston exit will be closed for an extended period following a dump truck that crashed into the South Brownell Road overpass Wednesday morning, Aug. 18, 2021. Inspections are underway for damage to the bridge and the highway. No injuries were reported in the single-vehicle wreck.
Vermont Business Magazine US Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) visited Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) Wednesday to announce his support of the hospital’s proposed expansion of their child care center. Leahy, the Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, included a request for $750,000 to support child care expansion in Bennington in his 2021 Congressionally Directed Spending requests. Let’s Grow Kids, a statewide campaign advocating for equitable access to high-quality, affordable child care in Vermont by 2025, participated in the press conference.

Vermont Business Magazine Anyone age 12 and older is eligible to be vaccinated, regardless of residency. Those 12-17 are eligible for only the Pfizer vaccine. The third dose for immunocompromised individuals is available now but only those who have received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines may get a third dose. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine has not been approved for a booster. The CDC is expected to have further guidance as early as September on the general population receiving a booster, perhaps including the J&J shot.
