John P Larkin Country Club celebrates 100-year anniversary

Vermont Business Magazine John P. Larkin Country Club is celebrating its 100th year anniversary.

The course, often nicknamed as JPL, is situated on U.S. Route 5, alongside the Connecticut River. It is a 9-hole, public golf course, which offers a fun challenge and scenic views. The course has a deep history, and has now been a staple in the Windsor community for 100 years.

JPL’s history started in 1909, when “Windsor Farms” was organized. It was to be managed as a “farm or country place,” and was sold to local Windsor residents by heirs of the former owner, A. E. Mann. For several years, the land was operated by the famous Canadian actress, Marie Dressler, and her agent.

The property was then sold and developed into a golf course. The course was originally named Hourglass Country Club, and was also used as a training program for the agronomy students of the University of Massachusetts. The Hourglass Country Club opened for play in 1921.

In 1997, the Windsor Country Club became John P. Larkin Country Club. JPLCC offers membership options, Mens, women and youth golf leagues and events, and is home to the Windsor High School Golf Team.
