Yellen will give the keynote address at the 25th Annual Women’s Economic Opportunity Conference October 1. “I could not be more pleased to welcome Secretary Yellen to Vermont,” said Leahy. “She’s a trailblazer in her field. Before becoming the first woman to head the Treasury Department, she was the first woman to head to the Federal Reserve. As her accomplishments suggest, she is a skilled economist. I have no doubt that Vermonters will benefit from hearing her perspective on her career path, how far women have come in the workplace, and the challenges that remain.”

Vermont Business Magazine Vermont specialty food producer, Runamok, recently raised its entry-level production hourly wage to $20 per hour. The Fairfax-based company includes “being a business with integrity” in its mission statement on the same footing as creating its “products with a careful eye for flavor, ingredients, and design.” Runamok sells its premium organic maple syrups, honeys, and cocktail syrups & bitters nationwide. Co-founder Eric Sorkin indicates that approximately 40 employees immediately benefit from this change as will the 20-25 team members who the company hopes to recruit this season.
Vermont Business Magazine The US Army and GlobalFoundries (GF) are scheduled to sign a partnership agreement on September 9, 2022, as part of the U.S. Army Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) program at 11 a.m. at GF, 1000 River Rd., Essex Junction. The PaYS Program is a strategic partnership between the Army and a cross section of private industry, academia and state and local public institutes. The U.S. Army PaYS Program guarantees Soldiers five job interviews and possible employment after their service in the Army. The PaYS Program provides America’s youth with the unique opportunity to simultaneously serve their country and prepare for their future.
Vermont Business Magazine After two postponements because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the International Workshop on Agritourism was finally able to come together in Burlington, Vermont this past week. Over 500 participants from 56 countries, 44 states and 4 Canadian provinces set a new mark for participation. 350 came to Burlington with the rest joining virtually. Participants spent three days together sharing and learning about agritourism from all over the world while making trips to experience the amazing farms, food and working lands businesses here in Vermont.

Recent actions by the Supreme Court included overturning Roe v. Wade, curtailing the Environmental Protection Agency’s regulation over the energy industry, gun control and the Second Amendment and more.
Vermont Business Magazine Alyssa Bourque, a sophomore on the University of Vermont track and field team announced today she has signed a name, image and likeness (NIL) agreement with SEAAV Athletics. Bourque will be a brand ambassador and model for the company. She recently participated in a photo and video shoot to represent the brand. As part of the agreement, she will make a commission on clothing sales. Bourque, 19, from Benton, Maine, created the partnership with SEAAV by working with Pliable Marketing, a company that helps high school, college and professional athletes build their brand. Bourque joins Norwich University hockey player Rylie McIntyre as a Pliable client in Vermont.

Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Democratic Party (VDP) launched Together for Vermont – the largest and most ambitious coordinated campaign in Vermont’s history – at a Unity Rally last Tuesday highlighting statewide and federal candidates. Candidates attended the rally in the VDP field office in Montpelier and stood united under the common goal of electing Democrats up and down the ticket.
