Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Symphony Orchestra (VSO) today announces that following an extensive national and international search, Elise Brunelle has been named as the organization’s new executive director. Brunelle comes to the VSO from South Africa, where she led the country’s largest non-profit performing arts organization, Cape Town Opera, for 16 years — most recently as managing director and previously as fundraiser and financial manager.

A well-respected business since 1963, Gayle Kline served customers from all over central Pennsylvania. Starting out on just a half-acre site, over the years, it grew to its current 16-acre lot with separate buildings for sales, parts & accessories, and 8-bay service center.

Vermont Business Magazine Vermont Federal Credit Union has once again earned the prestigious 2020 best-in-state credit union award from Forbes Magazine. Vermont Federal is the only credit union in the state to receive the award for three consecutive years. Forbes identified America’s Best-In-State Credit Unions 2020 based on an independent survey of more than 25,000 US consumers who were asked to rate credit unions at which they have or previously have had checking accounts.

Vermont Business Magazine Will Gardner has been home brewing for nearly a decade and was the Head Brewer at a popular Bennington, Vermont Brew Pub for 5 years. He has won awards for what goes inside the bottle/can, 2018 Great International Beer Competition 1st Place & 2nd Place awards and 2 Silver Medals at the Beer Wars 2018 competition, but this is a first for what goes on the outside.

Vermont Business Magazine In a year when Vermont business has been faced with unique and difficult challenges, the Working Lands Enterprise Board has continued to facilitate financial investments to support agricultural businesses across the State. Along with $250,000 dollars of funding for COVID-19 related business development grants recently announced, the Board also deployed another $1.4 million in grants and contracts, to (35) Agriculture and Forestry businesses and service providers around the State in 2020.

Vermont Business Magazine The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont has announced that John Van Hazinga, aka “Big John,” 42 years old, was sentenced today by US District Judge Christina Reiss to 5 years of probation following his felony conviction for distributing marijuana, a Schedule I controlled substance. Van Hazinga agreed in his plea agreement to the forfeiture of $67,189 of drug proceeds seized from three of his properties, and also agreed to file amended tax returns for this undeclared income.

Vermont Business Magazine As state data and expanded testing and tracing capacity continue to support reopening, Governor Phil Scott today announced he will expand the number of states covered under Vermont’s county-by-county quarantine-free travel policy, which allows direct travel from designated counties without a 14-day quarantine requirement. Effective July 1, this policy will be expanded to counties below this threshold in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia, as well as the District of Columbia.
