Vermont Agency of Transportation A weekly report of planned construction activities that will have traffic impacts on state highways

Week of June 29, 2020

Here is a list of road construction projects happening throughout Vermont. Most crews will cease work Thursday afternoon and will be off Friday, 07/03, in observance of the holiday weekend. Please remember to drive safely in all work zones. Lives depend on it.

Interstates

I-189 Burlington – South Burlington – Nightwork continues for a resurfacing project between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists will encounter one-way alternating traffic.

I-89 Berlin – A bridge replacement project continues. Northbound and Southbound traffic are reduced to one lane each for the season. Motorists should see minimal delays along VT 62 this week.

I-89 Richmond – Colchester – Nightwork for bridge joint work and a paving project between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists will encounter lane closures between Exits 12 and 16.

I-91 Hartland –Motorists can expect lane reductions Northbound and Southbound, with reduced speeds enforced in the work zone as bridge replacement operations continue.

I-91 Rockingham Bridges – Crews will continue bridge deck work this week. Motorists should note that lane and speed reductions are in place.

Around the State

Bethel – The bridge replacement project along VT 12 continues this week. Travelers should expect to encounter gravel roadways, but few delays.

Bolton – A bridge rehabilitation project along Notch Rd under I-89. Motorists will encounter alternating one-way traffic through the bridge tunnel during the day with reduced speeds. The tunnel will be closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday-Wednesday nights. A signed detour will be in place.

Bristol – A paving and sidewalk project continues along VT 17 in the downtown. Nightwork for sidewalks and curbs this week, Monday through Wednesday. No traffic impacts are expected.

Burlington – Drilling operations begin this week for the roundabout project at the Shelburne St. intersection with Ledge Rd., South Willard St., and Locust St. | Shelburne St. will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and motorists should expect one-way alternating traffic in the area.

Castleton – Ledge stabilization activities continue along VT 30. A lane closure is in place with traffic regulated by a temporary signal. Expect minor delays at the signal location.

Cavendish – Weathersfield – A road reclaim project continues along VT 131. Motorists will encounter areas of one-way alternating traffic, along with a temporary traffic signal between Lindberg Dr. and Brook Rd causing some delays. Please observe the timing of the signal.

Colchester – An intersection improvement project continues along VT 127 (Blakely Rd) at the intersection with Laker Lane. Motorists should expect periodical one-way alternating traffic with short delays.

East Montpelier – A sidewalk and lane widening project is underway along US-2 near the intersection with VT 14. Motorists will encounter flaggers and some short delays.

Fair Haven – Paving operations and sign installation along VT 22A this week. Motorists may encounter areas of one-way alternating traffic with minor delays.

Hartford – A roundabout project is underway along US 5. Traffic will be reduced to one thru lane and one turn lane in each direction of US 5 from the I-91 interchange continuing past the Junction Marketplace. Motorist should note that a temporary traffic light has been installed at the I-91 off-ramp to US 5.

LondonderryChester – Drainage, shoulder, and slope work are underway along VT 11 this week. There will be one-way flagged traffic in multiple areas, causing some delays.

Manchester – Dorset – Shoulder work continues along VT 30 this week. Motorists may encounter one-way alternating traffic with minor delays.

Middlebury – Travelers will see intermittent lane closures on VT 30 (Main Street) during the day Monday for the placing of crane parts. Main St. will be closed Monday night for crane assembly. Middle Seymour Street will be limited to one-lane travel during the day throughout the week. VT 125 (Merchants Row) remains closed to thru traffic.

New Haven – Bristol – Line striping and project cleanup activities along VT 17 this week. Plan on one-way alternating traffic with some delays.

North Hero – Grand Isle – Drawbridge construction continues along US 2. Motorists should take note of a speed reduction. MARINERS: The drawbridge will open at the top of the hour between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Smaller vessels will be able to pass between openings. All mariners must pass with extreme caution and NO WAKE.

Norwich – Work on a rail crossing improvement project continues along River Rd. this week. Motorists should expect one-way alternating traffic.

Orleans Village Bridge – Motorists should expect little to no traffic impacts this week for fence installation.

Pittsford – Multiple activities are underway for roadway reconstruction along US 7. One truck lane remains closed Southbound. Motorists will encounter brief stoppages in traffic and should expect delays. Please note: a speed reduction is in place with fines doubled in the work zone.

Putney – The bridge along US-5 at the intersection of Kimball Hill Rd. is being prepared for a 14-day closure to replace the bridge decks. The closure is set to begin Monday, 07/06. Motorists may encounter flaggers this week to assist with prep operations. Minimal delays.

Stowe –A repaving project continues along VT 100 and VT 108. Motorists can expect alternating one-way traffic between 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. Monday night through Thursday morning.

Stowe – Morristown – Road reclamation and underdrain work along VT 100 this week. Motorists should expect to encounter some gravel roadways with alternating one-way traffic in multiple areas with reduced speeds.

Vergennes – Sidewalk work and pole installation along VT 22A this week. Motorists should plan on one-way alternating traffic during the day with extended delays, especially mid-afternoon to evening. Add extra time to your travels.

Underhill – Cambridge – Drainage improvements continue along VT 15 this week. Motorists should expect one-way alternating traffic with minimal delays.

Waterbury – Reconstruction of US 2 (Main Street) continues. Bidwell Ln. will be closed to thru traffic Monday and Tuesday. Motorists should expect flaggers and pedestrian crossers, with one-way alternating traffic in multiple areas of the downtown.

West Rutland – Multiple projects are underway. Sidewalk, shoulder, and median work along VT 4A and VT 133, with signal and paving work at the intersection of BUS 4 and VT 4A. Motorists can expect areas of one-way alternating traffic and should plan on delays.

Wilmington – Stratton – Paving, sign installation, and guardrail work along VT 100 this week. Motorists will encounter alternating one-way traffic with flaggers.

Windsor – Hartland – A paving project has begun along US 5 starting in Windsor progressing North. Travelers should expect areas of alternating one-way traffic with some delays.
