Donald Mathews, MD, has been named chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont (UVM) and chief of the Anesthesiology Health Care Service at The University of Vermont Health Network. Mathews joined UVM in 2010 as associate professor and director of the Anesthesiology Residency Program, and was promoted to full professor in 2013.

Centers for Living and Rehabilitation (CLR), a part of Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC), has graduated four new licensed nursing assistants (LNAs). Holly Buckley, Brian Cody, Laura Lampman, and Kourtnie Lamson finished the 3-week, 120-hour course on June 6 and passed their LNA examination on June 26. All four graduates previously worked at CLR in the role of care assistant.
Vermont State Senator Christopher Bray has been invited to participate in this year’s program at the Center for the New Energy Economy (CNEE). Founded in 2011 as a department of Colorado State University, located in Denver, CNEE is a privately-funded initiative led by Colorado’s 41st Governor, Bill Ritter, Jr and assisted by a team of energy and environmental policy experts.

Vermont Federal Credit Union (VFCU) is excited to provide four, $2,000 scholarships in 2017. Scholarships were awarded to graduating high school seniors, Trevor Houchens and Matthew Stanley, as well as Kyle Ehler-Vock and Kathryn Gates who are currently enrolled in higher education. Trevor Houchens graduated in June from South Burlington High School.
