Vermont Women in Higher Education (VWHE) awarded its annual professional development scholarship to Norwich University Associate Professor Gina Sherriff in December to support her work in mentoring women on campus. The scholarship, named after Lyndon State College’s former president, Carol A Moore, recognizes women working in Vermont higher education who aspire to advance their careers.

Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC) is pleased to announce that Sammy Horton, MD and Chelsea Curran, FNP-C, have joined the Hospital’s team of medical-surgical specialists. The Team Two Frank Silfies Award, created in 2015 and awarded annually, is presented to a law enforcement officer and a mental health crisis clinician who work collaboratively to respond to mental health crises.

The University of Vermont Board of Trustees has added two new members with expertise in entrepreneurship and technology. The board also added a new student trustee. Jodi Goldstein, managing director of the Harvard Innovation Labs, and Otto Berkes, executive vice president and chief technology officer at New York City-based CA Technologies, will serve six-year terms beginning March 1.

The Tutorial Center, Inc announces that Jack Glade, its long-time Executive Director, will be retiring in July upon completion of a search for his successor. Founded in 1971, The Tutorial Center is a private nonprofit community education organization based in Bennington County that provides an array of educational services and programs for children, teens, and adults.

Health Care and Rehabilitation Services (HCRS), southeastern Vermont’s community mental-health agency, announced today that it has hired Jennifer A Smith as the new Director of its Children, Youth, & Families Division. Smith brings extensive experience in community-based youth programs, both in Vermont and Massachusetts, to the non-profit agency.

Jennifer G Thuermer, DNP, ACNP-BC, AACC, of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center’s Cardiology department, will present at the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses (AAHFN) 14th Annual Meeting in Chicago in June. Thuermer will be a co-speaker during the research session. She will share her experiences developing and executing nursing research.
