The progressive UNITED! Slate overwhelmingly won their third straight election for leadership positions within the Vermont State Labor Council, AFL-CIO at their annual Convention. United!

The Vermont Art Council is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2021 Vermont Arts Awards recognizing outstanding individual and organizational contributions to the arts. Awards honor educators, artists, performers, advocates, administrators, volunteers, and scholars.

Vermonters will be recognized for their contributions in five categories.

Vermont’s Regional Development Corporations (RDCs) received a 2021 Aliceann Wohlbruck Impact Award from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO). This national award recognizes the 12 RDCs of Vermont that make up the state’s economic development network, for the innovative Restart Vermont Technical Assistance Program (ReVTA).

Norwich University President Dr. Mark Anarumo, named Colonel William McCollough, USMC (Ret.) ’91 as the 56th Commandant of the Norwich University Corps of Cadets and Vice President of Student Affairs, effective late spring 2022.

The Vermont Council on Rural Development (VCRD) Board of Directors has announced that Brian Lowe has been selected Executive Director, a role he will assume on September 21, 2021.

Donna Austin-Hawley is the new president of the United Way of Northwest Vermont board of directors. Austin-Hawley assumed her new responsibilities on Tuesday, replacing Chris Lyon, who is stepping down after six years on the board, one as chair. Lyon, a longtime executive at Seventh Generation, has accepted a new professional position in Maine.

Graham Kidder, of Jacksonville, Vermont, was selected as this year’s Angels in Adoption Award winner. Graham has served as a Permanency Planning Counselor for the past twenty years and as a Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Recruiter for the last five and a half years.

UVM Medical Center announced that Marissa Coleman, PsyD, has accepted the position as the organization’s first Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). A psychologist at UVM Medical Center since 2018 and a daughter of a Jamaican immigrant, Coleman has served as Senior DEI Advisor for the past year, and will begin in her new role on September 20.

Northfield Savings Bank (NSB) is pleased to announce the opening of a new temporary branch office in Richmond Vermont at 53 Railroad Street. The new location opened its doors to the public on July 1. The new Richmond location offers business hours 8:30-5:00, Monday through Friday.

The Vermont Commission on Women (VCW), state government’s independent non-partisan commission advancing rights and opportunities for Vermont women and girls, begins work this fall under a new leadership structure, broadening from one to three Chairs. Lisa Senecal was re-elected to the position and is joined by fellow Commissioners Kiah Morris and Kellie B. Campbell.

The Vermont State Police will hold its Annual Awards Ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, in the House Chamber of the Vermont Statehouse in Montpelier.
