June Heston, long-term President & CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Vermont, is leaving the organization for a position in a larger, recently merged non-profit. When she leaves on December 30, 2009, she will leave a legacy and many accomplishments.

NBT Bank Regional President Matt Durkee announced that Kerri Wolynec has been hired as a commercial banking specialist. In this position, she is responsible for providing a full range of support services to the bank’s commercial banking team in Vermont. She is based at the bank’s regional office at 150 Bank Street in Burlington.

Monika Ursiny was presented the 2009 CEMS Outstanding Staff Member Award during a 2009 UVM CEMS Holiday Celebration held Thursday, December 17, 2009 in the Fleming Museum by Bernard “Chip” Cole, Interim Dean of the College. Ursiny was recognized for her achievements in her role as Budget Manager for the College.

Andrea McGill-O’Rourke calls it “serendipitous.”

She was helping her son search for a job as a social worker when she happened upon Gifford Medical Center’s Web site, www.giffordmed.org. The hospital was hiring not for a social worker but for a vice president of operations.

“Wait, that’s my job,” McGill-O’Rourke remembers saying.

The board of directors of Opportunities Credit Union has named Cheryl Fatnassi as the CEO and President. Fatnassi has over 29 years working in financial services. She was the former Senior Vice President for IT Systems at Banknorth and had previously managed all aspects of technology and retail banking, CRA and compliance.

Mark Wallace, Director of Business Development with TPW Management has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Mark has lived in Dover, Vermont since 1988. In 1990, he started Wallace Properties, Inc. and acted as the President and CEO, built the company to one of the largest property management companies in southern Vermont.

Professor Philip Parisi, a member of the Lyndon State College Visual Arts Department, completed his doctorate at Capella University in November. His area of study was Education with a focus on Instructional Design for Online Learning.

FairPoint Communications, Inc. today announced Beth Fastiggi has been promoted to the position of vice president of government relations - Vermont. She will be responsible for FairPoint’s relationship with Vermont government officials and will serve as the point of contact for Vermont legislative representatives and staff and state agencies.
