Katherine Hackett, a cum laude 2011 graduate of Saint Michael's College with a degree in sociology/anthropology, was named Admission Counselor at Saint Michael’s. She began at the college in June. Ms. Hackett was awarded the Katherine Fairbanks Award at commencement which is given annually to the top woman graduate in the class.

Sue Leavitt, a pharmacy technician at North Country Hospital in Newport, is trying to ease the pain of the cost of prescription drugs for eligible patients.
Attorney Peter D. Van Oot of the law firm Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC has been named Volunteer of the Year for 2011 in the eleven northeast states by the Northeast Economic Development Association. The award will be presented at NEDA’s annual meeting on October 24 at the Sheraton Hotel in Burlington.

Dr. Kathryn R. Dungy, who earned her doctorate in Caribbean and Latin American History from Duke University, was named assistant professor history at Saint Michael's College. Professor Dungy was a visiting assistant professor at Saint Michael’s from 2010 to 2011, and has now been named to that position on a tenure track, effective for the fall 2011 semester.
Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene (CMC/DHK) welcomes Joanne Bulley, MD, to the Department of Women’s Health. Dr. Bulley has cared for patients since 1985. In June 2011, she closed her solo practice and will continue to provide patient care at Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene.

Dr. Laura J. Stroup, assistant professor of geography at Texas State University, San Marcos, has been named Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at Saint Michael's College, starting with the fall 2011 semester. Dr. Stroup is the first professor in the college’s newly developed, cross-disciplinary major in Environmental Studies.
