This year UVM is one of only seven institutions to have winners in four of the country’s highly competitive undergraduate scholarship competitions: the Truman, Udall, Goldwater and Boren scholarships. These prestigious awards seek to acknowledge the country's most outstanding sophomores and juniors in a broad array of disciplines.

The Vermont Agency, who’s agents are separate agents of the companies of National Life Group®, held its annual awards banquet recently where the following agents were recognized and presented with awards highlighting their achievements for the 2011 year.

President Philip A. Conroy has appointed Eric B. Braun as the Dean of Students at Vermont Technical College effective July 1, 2012. Braun will provide leadership for Athletics, Career Development, Intramurals, Public Safety, Residence Life and Student Activities.

Elizabeth Anglin Knox has joined LUND as the Director of Development. Ms. Knox previously served as National Director, Development for Outward Bound. She was also the founding Managing Director of the Outward Bound Center for Peacebuilding and continues to serve on the Board of Directors of Outward Bound Peacebuilding.

Lund recently hired David F. Huntington of South Burlington to help lead its 50 Joy Drive Capital Campaign. The $3.5 million initiative will create a consolidated site for several Lund programs, including Adoption, Education, Child Care and its Parent Child Center.

As part of its 25th anniversary celebration, the Board of Directors of the Vermont Business Roundtable will present its Vision Award to Mary Powell, CEO of Green Mountain Power Corporation. Powell is a member of the Roundtable and is the organization’s Vice-Chair. The award will be presented during dinner on June 14th at the Sheraton Burlington Hotel.

Central Vermont Medical Center recently hired Montpelier resident Justin Turcotte as Executive Chef. Justin graduated from U-32 high school and earned his associates degree at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and St. Helena, California.
