Environmental Compliance Services, Inc. (ECS) has announced Joseph Hayes, CPG, PG and Laura Woodard will be presenting at the 28th Annual International Conference on Contaminated Soils, Sediments, Water and Energy to be held October 15-18, 2012 at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA.

Governor Peter Shumlin has appointed Charlotte Dennett of Cambridge to serve a four-year term on the Vermont Commission on Women.

Commissioner Dennett has a wide range of experience as a journalist, author, attorney, university professor and volunteer with women’s and labor groups.

Governor Peter Shumlin has reappointed Marion Milne of Washington to serve on the Vermont Commission on Women. The Vermont Commission on Women (VCW) is a non-partisan state agency dedicated to legislative, economic, social, and political fairness.

Dr. Brosh Teucher, with a doctorate from the University of Washington, has been named Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Saint Michael's College. Dr. Teucher was Visiting Assistant Professor of Management and Organizations at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, from 2009 to 2010.

EastView celebrated its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony August 14th. The ceremony marked completion of construction of Vermont’s newest not-for-profit retirement community, begun in December 2010. Guests included residents, staff, EastView’s locally-based Board of Directors, lenders, and the Addison County Chamber of Commerce.

It has been said that adult education as we know it would never have become a reality without Evalyn Bates. On September 30, Goddard College President Dr. Barbara Vacarr will present a posthumous Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters to recognize Evalyn Bates’ unequaled legacy in higher education.

Dr. Kacy Pula, who studies the connection between human behavior and the environment, was named Assistant Professor of Psychology at Saint Michael’s College, starting this fall. Dr. Pula earned her doctorate in experimental psychology from Washington State University in 2012. Her dissertation is titled “Regulatory Focus and Motives for Organic Food preferences in the United States.”

Rick Vincent has been appointed Vice President of Finance for the University of Vermont Medical Group at Fletcher Allen Health Care, a position he has held on an interim basis since April.

United Way of Chittenden County (UWCC) today announced new leadership for their annual Community Campaign. Michael Seaver, Vermont President of People’s United Bank, is serving as the volunteer Chair of the Community Campaign and Jane Warren, a former Loaned Executive for the organization, is the new Community Campaign Manager.

Shawn Calley, Executive Chef of Amuse at the Essex Resort & Spa was named Top Chef of the Champlain Valley for the second straight year at CVAA's benefit to support Meals on Wheels. Calley went head to head against Michael Clauss of the Bluebird Tavern and Andrea Cousineau of the Bearded Frog.
