ECS employees to present at conference

Environmental Compliance Services, Inc. (ECS) has announced Joseph Hayes, CPG, PG and Laura Woodard will be presenting at the 28th Annual International Conference on Contaminated Soils, Sediments, Water and Energy to be held October 15-18, 2012 at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA.

Mr. Hayes, ECS’ Waterbury, VT Branch Manager, and Matt Moran of the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation will be presenting “Hurricane Irene – Big Hazmat Impact in Small Vermont Town: The Cooperative Response and Lessons Learned.” During their presentation, Mr. Hayes and Mr. Moran will focus on the cooperative response of many agencies, organizations and cleanup contractors, and will detail lessons learned from one of the largest natural disasters the region has ever experienced.

Ms. Woodard, a Senior Project Manager based in ECS’ Waterbury, VT office, will deliver a poster presentation titled “Remediation of a Gasoline Plume Using a Combination of Remedial Strategies.” Her presentation will focus on a mix of remedial strategies implemented at a former gasoline station under the Vermont Petroleum Cleanup Fund (PCF) Program when gasoline vapors were reported at an adjacent residence.

Mr. Hayes is a Certified Professional Geologist responsible for studies evaluating the presence of petroleum and hazardous waste contamination. He oversees all ECS site investigation and remediation projects in northern Vermont, including hydrogeologic contaminant investigations and design and implementation of contaminant remediation. Ms. Woodard is a hydrogeologist responsible for the management of environmental site assessments, contaminant hydrogeologic investigations, and remediation projects.
