UVM names director at Jeffords Center

The University of Vermont has named Professor H.W. "Bud" Meyers director of the James M. Jeffords Center, a newly established center at UVM for public policy research. Stafford Technical Center installs new officers

On October 12th, Stafford Technical Center's Chapter of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America ( FCCLA) installed new officers for the 2009-2010 school year. The following students were elected to serve as officers: President-Sara Graham (Rutland High School), Vice-President/Parliamentarian-Mercedes LaPlant (Proctor High School), Secretary/Reporter-Alyssa Hartwell (Rutland High School), Treasurer-Charlena Breon (West Rutland High School), and Historian-Nikki Broadwell (Rutland High School).

Owner of Caribbean Corner Restaurant receives Distinguished Member Award

Patrick Brown, owner of the Caribbean Corner Restaurant and Director of the Greater Burlington Multicultural Resource Center, who also teaches Caribbean Studies at the University of Vermont was given the Distinguished Member Award by the Vermont chapter on October 4th in the Davis Center. Brown has taught at UVM since 1999. The recognition was for contribution to the classroom, campus and community. In addition to organizing the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, remembrance Brown is responsible for several high level visits to the State including Archbishop Tutu.
