New executive director named for United Way of Chittenden County
Don Rendall of Green Mountain Power Corporation and the President of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Chittenden County announced today that Martha Maksym of Grand Isle has been named the new Executive Director to succeed Gretchen Morse who announced her retirement effective June 30th. A wide range of applicants was considered by a search committee of the Board during a process that took several months. Joe Halko reelected Board President of Franklin-Grand Isle United Way
South Burlington resident, Joe Halko, was recently reelected as President of the Franklin-Grand Isle United Way Board of Directors at their annual meeting held on April 14th in St. Albans. Mr. Halko has served on the United Way board for six years and was Vice President prior to becoming President last year.
Halko began his volunteer involvement on the Franklin-Grand Isle United Way board as a Co-Chair of the 2005-2006 Campaign. In addition, he has served as the Chair of the Public Relations Committee from 2007-2010.
Comcast names Wayne Rustin vice president of human resources in Western New England
Comcast, one of the nation’s leading providers of entertainment, information and communications products and services, today announced that Wayne Rustin has been named Vice President of Human Resources for the company’s Western New England Region, which includes Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, New York and Vermont.
New speech and language pathologist at North Country Hospital
When Kerry Leavitt learned that the Speech and Language Pathology Department at North Country Hospital was in need of another speech and language pathologist she and her husband, Brock, couldn't believe it.
“He said 'you have got to apply for that,'” Kerry said. “My husband [a Burlington native] has been coming up here since he was a baby.” His family owns a camp on Lake Seymour.
Kerry joined the team on August 16. Brock is also employed at North Country working per diem as a radiological technician in the hospital's Diagnostic Imaging Department.
Vermont Small Business Development Center welcomes Laurel Butler and Charles Ininger
Laurel Butler and Charles Ininger have joined VtSBDC’s state-wide team of business advisors as part of President Obama’s “Small Business Jobs Bill”. Vermont’s allocation of the “Jobs Bill” will fund additional support for start-up/pre-venture small business owners and nascent entrepreneurs for a period of two years through comprehensive technical assistance and training.
Long Trail stewards welcome New Executive Director
The Green Mountain Club today announced the choice of Will Wiquist as the organization’s new executive director. Wiquist is the first new director in more than a decade for the 101-year old, 10,000 member club which maintains Vermont’s Long Trail network and seeks to promote the role of the mountains in people’s lives.
Lowrey Sullivan, MD, named NMC’s Chief Medical Officer
In an effort to ensure an even closer working relationship between the physicians and the hospital, Dr. Lowrey Sullivan has accepted the position of Chief Medical Officer on Northwestern Medical Center’s Leadership Team. He will begin his new part-time role at the hospital on or about June 1.
Brandy Ellison joins People’s United Bank as customer service manager
People’s United Bank recently announced that Brandy Ellison has joined the bank as Customer Service Manager for the Woodstock office. As Customer Service Manager, Ellison will be responsible for overall management of the customer experience, including direct supervision and development of the customer service staff and all operational aspects of the branch.
Ellison holds a Bachelor of Art Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Development from Castleton State College.
