Green Mountain Club elects new president
The Green Mountain Club today announced the election of its 41st president: Jean Haigh of Craftsbury. Haigh is the first Northeast Kingdom Section member to serve as volunteer president of the 102 year old, 10,000-member founders and maintainers of the Long Trail.
Haigh is the inspiring leader behind much of the club’s work in the Kingdom, especially on the former Champion Lands, and helped guide the club in accepting its additional management responsibilities on the Appalachian Trail in Vermont.

Shane Mispel named store manager at TD Bank in Barre

VSO honors Barbara and David Wessel
Barbara and David Wessel of Essex Junction were honored by the Vermont Symphony Orchestra at a recent meeting of the Champlain Valley Friends of the VSO. The Wessels were proclaimed members of the VSO’s Crescendo Society which honors the extraordinary lifetime support of the Orchestra’s most generous contributors, recognizing individuals, corporations, and private foundations. The award, a custom-designed piece by Simon Pearce, was presented by Board Chairman Brian Harwood.

New staff engineer joins Engineering Ventures
Engineering Ventures is pleased to announce the addition of David Zhang, E.I., Staff Engineer to the Burlington office. David is a recent University of Vermont graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. David is working towards his P.E. in Civil Engineering. His pass project includes a green roof on Votey Hall at the University of Vermont, a seven story hotel in Little Italy, Manhattan and an anerobic digester at the University of Vermont farm. David is excited to be a member of the civil engineering team at EV.
