Jim Leddy named 2013 winner of the AARP Andrus Award for Community Service in Vermont

Jim Leddy, AARP State President, has been named as the 2013 winner of the AARP Andrus Award for Community Service in Vermont. The award is named for AARP founder, Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, an educator and tireless advocate of community service and volunteerism. Andrus coined the motto, “To Serve, Not to be Served,” which remains part of the AARP credo to this day. It is the Association’s most prestigious award.

National Life Group hires vice president & regional development officer

National Life Group has appointed Rick Cederberg as vice president and regional development officer.

Cederberg will work with National Life Group’s general agents to develop and enhance the company’s distribution among career agents, said Ruth Smith, executive vice president and head of the Protection Division.

Paul Harrington elected chair of Vermont Information Technology Leaders (VITL) Board of Directors

Vermont Information Technology Leaders (VITL) announced Paul Harrington, executive vice president, Vermont Medical Society, has been elected chair of the organization’s board of directors. Harrington has been involved with VITL since it was incorporated in 2005, having most recently served as board treasurer.

Joe Kasprzak named 2013 Citizen of the Year by Burke Area Chamber of Commerce

A new tradition was started at the Annual Burke Fall Festival when the Burke Area Chamber of Commerce awarded its first ever Citizen of the Year award to local resident, Joe Kasprzak. Chamber President, Tim Tierney surprised Kasprzak with the award in recognition of “30 years of exemplary dedication, volunteerism and support for the community of Burke, Vermont” as the plaque reads.

Shawn M. Allen joins SymQuest as a network support engineer
