Vermont Foodbank hires Alex Bornstein as Chief Operations Officer
The Vermont Foodbank is pleased to announce the hiring of Alex Bornstein as Chief Operations Officer. Bornstein comes to the Foodbank from International Rescue Committee, Inc., an international non-profit that “responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives,” where he served as the organization’s Chief Supply Chain Officer for 10 years.
Marie Thresher joins Merchants Bank as chief risk officer

Cancer patient support program announces appointment of giving fund chair
At a recent meeting of the Board of Directors of the Cancer Patient Support Program (CPS), a recommendation was made, and unanimously accepted, to appoint Ken Miller of Shelburne as the first Cancer Patient Fund Chair. No stranger to the community, Ken has been the current owner and operator of On-site SecurShred since 2000, and prior to that owned the Shelburne restaurant Amigo’s for fourteen years.
Norwich University’s online programs welcomes new admissions counselor
Bethany Scalzo has been named a new admissions counselor for Norwich University’s College of Graduate and Continuing Studies.
Scalzo will aid with the recruitment of new students for Norwich’s online bachelor’s degree completion programs.
Kate Dodge joins Stride Creative Group
Kate Dodge was hired as an account manager for Stride Creative Group.
Kate had previously been with Cottage 10 as Creative Services Manager, and prior to that she worked for Vermont Works for Women and JDK Design in Burlington.
Stride Creative Group develops branding, design, and marketing solutions for businesses and organizations throughout Vermont and beyond.
Northfield Savings Bank CEO to depart in 2015
Northfield Savings Bank Board Chair Nancy Pope has announced Thomas Pelletier, President & CEO, will be leaving the Bank in 2015. Ms. Pope stated the Board has known for several years of Pelletier’s choice to depart the Bank in 2015 upon reaching the age of 60. Ms. Pope expressed the Board’s deep appreciation for Pelletier’s commitment to the Bank. She added NSB is well positioned for a change in leadership and the Board is confident the Bank’s performance will not be disrupted.
Norwich University names assistant vice president for international education
David Clubb has been named assistant vice president for international education, a brand-new position at Norwich University.
Clubb will lead an effort to enhance the university’s international diversity with the aim of positioning Norwich as more globally oriented and internationally connected.

The Vermont Humanities Council is pleased to announce that it has hired Amy Cunningham as its Director of Community Programs. Cunningham was formerly the executive director of Everybody Wins! Vermont. Prior to that, she was the Director of Education and Public Programming at the Vermont Historical Society.
