John D. Birkmeyer, MD, an internationally recognized leader in outcomes research and quality improvement, has been named to the position of Executive Vice President for Enterprise Support Services across the Dartmouth-Hitchcock health system. In this newly-created position, he will work with CEO and President Dr. James N. Weinstein and key members of the senior management team to create a sustainable health system – a regional and national model for convenient, accessible, high-quality, low-cost health care.

Rutland Area Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice (RAVNAH), a Medicare-certified, non-profit home care agency that provides the highest quality home health and nursing care, hospice, private duty, and community health services to people throughout Rutland County, Dorset, and Rupert Vermont areas, announced today that two new members have been selected to serve on the organization’s Board of Directors. The new members include a seasoned member who previously spent 19 years serving on RAVNAH’s board, and a GE employee serving RAVNAH for the first time.

Amy Cooper has been named Executive Director of Healthfirst Inc, responsible for over-seeing the network’s Medicare and Commercial ACO programs, as well as other organizational activities. Ms. Cooper has been Executive Director of Healthfirst’s Medicare ACO (ACCGM) for the past year, during which she facilitated greater collaboration and care coordination within the network, helping to lower hospitalization and re-admission rates for the Medicare population. Trombley Oakes currently serves as the Associate Dean of Institutional Advancement at Vermont Technical College. Prior to joining Vermont Tech, she was the president and CEO of the National Life Group Charitable Foundation and director of corporate and community relations for National Life Group. She also served in the Vermont Secretary of State’s Office under then-Secretary Deb Markowitz and in United States Congressman Thomas Allen’s Washington, DC Office.
