Dan Palow joins the Greater Burlington Y team

Dan Palow joined the Greater Burlington YMCA as Manager of Annual Giving. He is responsible for supporting development efforts that advance the Y’s non-profit mission to strengthen communities by focusing on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Previously, Palow worked nine years at Vermont Public Radio, most recently in the role of Director of Development Operations. He resides in St. Albans City.

AllEarth Renewables has announced the hiring of Paul Gustafson as Technical Customer Support Manager.

Gustafson comes to AllEarth Renewables with over 20 years of experience in technical support and over 10 years experience with energy efficiency products and technical training.

Gustafson will work to support AllEarth’s national solar installer network.

Christopher Maley named Best Lawyers Medical Malpractice "Lawyer of the Year”

Maley is a Vermont native and personal injury plaintiff lawyer practicing with Maley and Maley PLLC — a firm he founded with his father John P. Maley (who was selected for the same “Lawyer of the Year” distinction for 2014). Maley is an active member and past president of the Vermont Association for Justice.

RRCC announces winners at 33rd Annual Chamber Winter in August celebration

The Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce announced the Chef’s Best Taste Awards, Chef’s Best Presentation Award and People’s Choice Award at the 33rd Annual Chamber Winter In August Celebration sponsored by Rutland Herald. This is the second year the Chamber established a "Chef led panel" of experts to make the decision. It was a success. The panel was made up of Chef Ben Layden, Chef Rick Iffland from Middlebury College and Mike Clifford (with extensive local restaurant experience). The 9 criteria included everything from complimenting flavors to appeal to the eye.

Ob/gyn Dr Sean Tubens joins Gifford in Randolph

Dr. Sean Tubens’ path to becoming an ob/gyn physician was anything but direct.

The Baltimore native joined the U.S. Marines out of high school and spent four years as an aviation electrician working on F18s and serving during Operation Desert Storm.

He returned home to Baltimore unsure what he would do next. The idea of becoming a lawyer or psychologist appealed to him but the years of school seemed daunting. His father was a hairdresser and although his first instinct was “no way,” he took up his father’s trade.

See new and selected sculpture by Gregory Smith at Southern Vermont College

Gregory Smith’s exhibit of his new and selected sculpture is viewable now through October 5 at the Burgdorff Gallery and on the grounds of Southern Vermont College (SVC). SVC’s Burgdorff Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends from 1 to 4 p.m. The College will host a reception for the artist on Saturday, September 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Gallery, which is free and open to the public.
