Growing to serve more audiences, Lake Champlain Maritime Museum names new executive director

The Board of Directors of Lake Champlain Maritime Museum (LCMM) has announced the appointment of J. Michael “Mike” Smiles as their new Executive Director. Mike, who took the helm at LCMM on January 5, assumes the role from Erick Tichonuk, who is returning to a more hands-on position at the museum.

South Burlington Public Works employee receives regional recognition

The New England Water Environment Association has awarded its 2015 NEWEA Operator of the year award to Kevin McLaughlin of the South Burlington Department of Public Works. The NEWEA Operator Award is given annually to an individual who has shown a high interest and performance in wastewater operations and has made a significant contribution to the wastewater field. “We are very proud of Kevin for this recognition and all his accomplishments and contributions to South Burlington,” said Justin Rabidoux, Director of Public Works.

Rheumatologist Carey J Field, MD joins the staff at Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center

Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center has welcd Rheumatologist Carey J. Field, MD to the team of medical specialists. Having joined the staff in January, Dr. Field is currently accepting patients for diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases and clinical problems involving joints, soft tissues, autoimmune diseases, vasculitis, and heritable connective tissue disorders. She will be working alongside the Hospital’s regionally known rheumatologist Dr. David Podell.

Brattleboro Internal Medicine hires new family practitioner

Brattleboro Internal Medicine, a BMH Physician Group member, announced Kate Wageman, FNP will join its medical staff. She will begin seeing patients in March, 2015.

Wageman was most recently employed by the Birchwood Terrace Healthcare Nursing Home in Burlington, Vermont, where she was a registered nurse in the transitional care unit for the past two years. She also has clinical experience in family practice, pediatric care, urgent care and women’s health settings.
