Vermont Guardsman becomes Nations first female combat engineer

Spc. Skylar Anderson, a member of the Vermont Army National Guard, became the first female Soldier in the nation to be awarded the 12B Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) code as a combat engineer. Graduating from the 164th Regiment Regional Training Institute (RTI) in Devils Lake, North Dakota, Aug. 31, 2015. Anderson was previously a Multiple Launch Rocket System Operations / Fire Direction Specialist (13P) prior to re-classing to a combat engineer.

Sandy Rousse elected to serve as president of VNAs of Vermont

Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice (CVHHH) President & CEO, Sandy Rousse, CPA, has been elected as President of the VNAs of Vermont (VNAVT). VNAVT is the association of 11 not-for-profit Visiting Nurse Associations providing home health and hospice care to all Vermonters. Rousse was elected in October by members of the VNAVT board, which is comprised of leadership from VNAVT member agencies.

Matthew Sullivan, MD, joins UVM Health Network–Central Vermont Medical Center’s Green Mountain Family Practice

Practicing medicine will soon become a family affair at UVM Health Network – Central Vermont Medical Center’s Green Mountain Family Practice as Matthew Sullivan, MD, joins his father Dr. Craig Sullivan in Northfield where he has been a doctor for more than 30 years.

“Returning to Northfield and working with my father in the community I grew up in is an amazing opportunity. I am both literally and figuratively returning home,” said Dr. Sullivan.

VNA honors staff and volunteers at annual dinner

Sixty-three staff and volunteers were recognized for anniversaries ranging from 5 to 35 years at the Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties’ Annual Staff and Volunteer Recognition Dinner recently. Over 200 staff, volunteers and friends of the VNA gathered to honor their colleagues and friends at the celebration, which was held at the Hampton Inn in Colchester.

The Automaster BMW holds ribbon cutting for newly renovated showroom

The Automaster has completed the final details of their BMW showroom renovation and celebrated its completion with a ribbon cutting ceremony held recently.

Deconstruction began on November 24, 2014. The total renovation included stripping the existing building down to the structural steel and rebuilding a completely updated showroom, with an expansion of 980 square feet of new showroom space to the existing footprint. Construction of the new state-of-the-art facility was completed in June.

Scott Rodi, MD, MPH joins Gifford Medical Center

Emergency medicine physician Dr. Scott Rodi has been appointed Gifford Medical Center’s Emergency Department and Hospital Division Medical Director. For the past 15 years Rodi has worked at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where he has been the Medical Director and Section Chief of Emergency Medicine. He is Associate Professor of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine, and since 2007 has also worked part-time in Gifford’s Emergency Department.
