Community Sailing Center welcomes new board members

The Community Sailing Center (CSC) has announced that six new members have been elected to its Board of Directors. The new members will serve three year terms, which began onJanuary 1, 2016. In addition to the new board members, the CSC has also announced the officers and full Board of Directors for 2016.

Joining the Board of Directors are Pat Burns, Tom Porter, Jessica Bridge, Lindsay DesLauriers, Grant Leibersberger and Marc Sherman.

Fort Ticonderoga awards teacher scholarships for Annual French & Indian War Conference

Institute of Professional Practice, Inc announces three new board members

The Institute of Professional Practice, Inc, a non-profit human services organization that serves adults and children with developmental disabilities, has announced that three new members have been selected to serve on the organization’s Board of Directors. The new board members are Donna Curtin, Michael Hartman, and Deborah Shenk. They were installed at the annual meeting on March 1, 2016. Current Board of Directors chairman, Michael Chater, states that, “IPPI is very excited by the addition of three very energetic, highly qualified new members.

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences professor awarded research grant

Karen Glass – a professor on the Colchester Campus of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences – was recently awarded a $384,000 research grant from the Nat’l Institutes of Health (NIH).

But what’s even more impressive is the fact that she received the highest score possible on her NIH grant application. That achievement puts her in the top 1% of all applicants in the country!

And her ties to the state go beyond just working for a Colchester-based college. She grew up in Essex Junction and received her Ph.D. (in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics) from UVM.

Solar Works launched

The launching of Solar Works, a new sister company of Weatherization Works performing on site solar assessments and Solar PV installations, has been announced. Together with Weatherization Works, the two companies now offer a complete package of home energy efficiency upgrades, installation of high efficiency cold climate heat pumps and renewable energy.

Northfield Savings Bank donates funds to Vermont Tech to support advanced manufacturing training

Northfield Savings Bank has donated $25,000 to Vermont Technical College to support workforce development in Vermont's manufacturing sector. Vermont Tech recently launched a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology and is enhancing its manufacturing and electrical engineering laboratories to bolster Vermont's capacity for advanced manufacturing.

People’s United Community Foundation continues charitable giving

The People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of People’s United Bank, has announced that it has once again awarded $7,500 to the Boys and Girls Club of Rutland; as well as $3,000 to Everybody Wins! Vermont; $3,000 to Mercy Connections; $5,000 to Southeastern Vermont Community Action (SEVCA); $4,000 to Groundworks Collaborative; $5,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Addison County; $2,500 to Central Vermont Adult Basic Education (CVABE).
