Each year, Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) honors a nurse whose accomplishments in the areas of leadership, service and scholarship are worthy of the health system’s highest recognition. This award is called the Search for Excellence, and the 2016 honoree is Karen Hewson, MSN, RN, CEN, of Hoosick Falls, NY. She was celebrated at the SVHC’s 2016 Nurses Week Celebration in May.

Cynthia Ashe has been named Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC) Employee of the Month for June, 2016.

Ashe, who has worked as a secretary in the Surgical Specialties office since 2012, was cited for her excellent job performance and outstanding patient service.

Family nurse practitioner Eva Linden has joined Gifford’s primary care team and is now seeing families at the Bethel Health Center.

Linden grew up in Putney, VT and was drawn to helping people at an early age. She first realized she enjoyed medicine during a First Aid course required for lifeguarding at age thirteen. At eighteen she volunteered with the Emergency Medical Services at her college, and continued to do so with the local fire department after college.
