Center names five Public Policy & Community Research Fellows

SVMC nurse wins worldwide recognition

Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) is proud to announce that Barbara M Richardson, MSN, RN-BC, CCRN, is one of five nurses named as a 2016 American Nurses Credentialing Center National Magnet Nurse of the Year. The award was bestowed for Richardson’s commitment to structural empowerment, one of the five tenants of the Magnet model. “I am honored and humbled to be recognized as a Magnet Nurse of the Year,” Richardson said.

UVM's Shampnois wins city award for work in student neighborhoods

Gail Shampnois, director of UVM’s Office of Student and Community Relations, has won the 2016 Peter Clavelle award from the city of Burlington. Mayor Miro Weinberger, along with other city officials and community partners, honored Shampnois and other award winners in the Burlington community at a “Celebrate Burlington” event held at City Hall Oct 24.

Craig Bailey to host syndicated radio special for Joyride Media

Craig Bailey of Shelburne, Vermont, will host an upcoming syndicated radio special devoted to the band Pink Floyd. "Creation: The Early Years of Pink Floyd" is an hour-long program from Joyride Media of New York, NY. The program coincides with the release of a boxset of rare, early material from the band called "The Early Years 1965-1972." Bailey, who has produced and hosted his Pink Floyd program "Floydian Slip" for nearly 30 years, was hired by Joyride Media producer Paul Chuffo to host the special.

The EDGE welcomes four team members

The EDGE Physical Therapy welcomes Dan Ellis, DPT, and Kelsey Higgins, ATC to their team. Dan is a graduate from The University of Vermont with his BS in Exercise and Movement Science in 2013 and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2015. Dan treats people with a variety of orthopedic and neurological diagnoses and is accepting new patients at their Williston and Essex locations. Kelsey graduated from The University of Vermont last year with a BS in Athletic Training.
