Mt Ascutney Hospital provider elected President of the PAAV

Sean O’Brien, PA-C, a member of the medical staff at Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center, was recently elected President of the Physician Assistant Academy of Vermont (PAAV). O’Brien, who joined the staff at MAHHC in 2015, is a 2012 graduate of Franklin Pierce University in Lebanon, NH where he earned a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies, and also served as president of his class. O’Brien will serve a two-year term as President of the PAAV, where he has been a member since 2009, and previously served as the organization’s treasurer and chair of the public relations committee.

House Chair to receive Legislator of the Year award

VBSR will honor the chair of a Vermont House committee at the organization's annual Legislative Breakfast on December 15 for her work this year in passing key employment bills. Rep. Helen Head, (D)-South Burlington, the chair of the House General, Housing, and Military Affairs Committee, will be honored for her role in passing Earned Paid Leave and Ban the Box legislation in 2016, two VBSR legislative priorities.

Stern Center staff promotion and certification

The Stern Center for Language and Learning has named Peggy Price as their new Early Education Program Manager. Price was previously a Professional Learning Instructor, where she taught courses on a contract basis. Furthermore, the Stern Center is pleased to congratulate Price on recently becoming certified as a Fellow by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators following a 6-year training process.
