Jane Hartzell, RN earns CVMC’s first DAISY Award

The University of Vermont Health Network - Central Vermont Medical Center named Jane Hartzell, RN, its first DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses recipient Feb. 23. The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) Award™ is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. Hartzell, a nurse with Central Vermont Urology on the CVMC campus, was nominated for her skill and compassion in caring for a patient who'd recently lost his beloved wife.

The Vermont Youth Orchestra Association names music director

The Vermont Youth Orchestra Association (VYOA) has named Benjamin Klemme, DMA, Davenport, IA, to the position of music director, effective July 1, 2017. Klemme succeeds Jeffrey Domoto, who served as music director from 2011 until his resignation in May 2016. Edward Cumming, a member of the faculty at the Hartt School in Hartford, CT, served as interim Vermont Youth Orchestra conductor for 2016-2017 season while the organization conducted a national search.

UCS welcomes Allah Rakha Sheikh, Director of Information Technology

United Counseling Service (UCS) is proud to announce Allah Rakha Sheikh as Director of Information Technology. This is a new leadership position for the agency which serves 3000 individuals annually and employs nearly 300 in Bennington County. ‘Phenomenal’ physicist to visit St Mike’s

William Bialek, a nationally renowned physicist who studies the extremes of physical phenomena and their connection with living systems, will speak at Saint Michael’s College on Tuesday, April 4 at 5:30 pm in the Roy Event Room of the Dion Family Student Activity Center. The visit is part of a program run by Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious undergraduate honor society.

BioTek’s Adam Alpert named to Governor’s Government Modernization and Efficiency Team

BioTek Instruments proudly announces that Vice President Adam Alpert was named a member of Vermont Governor Phil Scott’s Government Modernization and Efficiency Team (GMET). This team, comprised of twelve individuals,from inside and outside State government will advise on strategic initiatives towards improving efficiencies and outcomes throughout Vermont’s government. Ultimately, the team’s recommendations will support the Governor’s goals of making Vermont more affordable and strengthening the economy in the modern era.
