Dr Fontaine one of first in nation to earn Lifestyle Medicine Board Certification

Northwestern Medical Center is pleased to announce that Elisabeth Fontaine, MD recently became one of the first medical professionals globally to be certified as Diplomate of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) and the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine.

As defined by the ACLM, Lifestyle Medicine is the use of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to prevent, treat and oftentimes reverse chronic disease. These therapies include physical activity, adequate sleep, stress management, tobacco cessation and a predominantly whole food, plant-based diet.

Nelson joins VHFA as Business Development Coordinator-Homeownership

Executive Director Sarah Carpenter announced that Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) has hired Zach Nelson of Burlington’s North End for the position of Business Development Coordinator-Homeownership. Nelson comes to VHFA from the Burlington Free Press where he was an Account Executive. “Zach’s background in developing marketing campaigns and digital marketing solutions will be valuable in marketing for the Agency’s mortgage products”, Carpenter remarked.

LaMantia named Director of Center on Aging

University of Vermont Provost David Rosowsky and Larner College of Medicine Dean Frederick Morin, M.D., have announced the appointment of Michael LaMantia, MD, MPH, as director of the UVM Center on Aging. LaMantia, who is currently associate professor of medicine and neurological sciences, as well as section head of geriatric medicine, will succeed William Pendlebury, MD, professor emeritus of pathology and laboratory medicine, who has served as the Center on Aging’s director for more than nine years.
