HCRS hires new children’s division director

Smith brings extensive experience in community-based youth programs, both in Vermont and Massachusetts, to the non-profit agency. Providing clinical and administrative oversight to many non-profit agencies serving children and adolescents over the last 28 years, Smith is well prepared to take this role to new heights.

Burlington wastewater treatment chief operator recognized for outstanding service

Nathan Lavallee of Westford, Vt, was honored recently by the US Environmental Protection Agency for his work maintaining the Burlington, Vt, Wastewater Treatment Facility. Lavallee, who is chief operator of the Burlington facility, was honored by EPA’s New England office with a 2017 Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator of the Year Excellence Award for his outstanding work over the years in operating and maintaining the Burlington facility.

Kirkpatrick appointed UVM Chair of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics

University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine Dean Frederick Morin, MD, and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Dean Thomas Vogelmann, PhD, have announced the appointment of Beth Kirkpatrick, MD, as chair of the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (MMG) at the Larner College of Medicine and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Kirkpatrick’s appointment will be effective March 1, 2018, when founding chair and University Distinguished Professor Susan Wallace, PhD, steps down.
