Kinney of Catamount Solar honored by peers with distinguished Jim Grundy Award

At a reception overflowing the Vermont State House’s Cedar Creek Room, Renewable Energy Vermont presented co-founder of Catamount Solar, Dan Kinney with the 2017 Jim Grundy Award for generosity of spirit and integrity in bringing renewable energy to his community. “For the last 20 years, every day Dan has shown his commitment to quality; quality work, quality installation, and quality jobs,” said Jeff Forward, Chair of the Renewable Energy Vermont’s board of directors as he announced the award.

Two new members elected to Vermont State Colleges System Board of Trustees

David Silverman, President and CEO of Union Bank, and Vermont State Representative Dylan Giambatista will join the Vermont State College System Board of Trustees. Silverman is a 1985 alumnus of Johnson State College and has retained long and strong connections with the college. He has supported internship and career opportunities for students, served on the President’s Roundtable, and participated in panels supporting Johnson as it works with Lyndon State College to become Northern Vermont University.

Williams elected President of the LCMHS Board of Directors

Zach Williams has been elected as the new President of the Lamoille County Mental Health Services Board of Directors. Zach is the Chief Financial Officer of Bourne’s Energy in Morrisville. He began his accounting career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Minneapolis, Minnesota performing and supervising audits of companies ranging in revenue from $50M to $2B.

Zach moved home to Vermont in 2014 and began working for Aon, where he oversaw the accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance of a portfolio of Captive Insurance Companies.

Black joins VHB as Environmental Scientist

Jason Black has joined VHB as an Environmental Scientist in the firm’s South Burlington, Vermont office. Jason will be supporting our GIS and mobile data collection team out in the field. He brings to the office extensive experience in editing shapefiles, LiDAR and NAIP imagery, and even imagery collection and three-dimensional data processing for UAV flights.

Jason graduated from the University of Vermont last spring with a BS in Civil Engineering and a minor in Geospatial Technologies.

Bourassa joins VHB as Administrative Manager

Karin Bourassa has joined VHB as the Administration Manager in the firm’s South Burlington, Vermont office. She brings with her a strong focus in business administration and management. Karin has over two decades of professional experience working with the University of Vermont as a Research Administrator, serving as the Executive Assistant and Grants Manager at Shelburne Farms, and spending over 15 years as the Executive Director of the International Rule of Law Consortium in Colchester, Vermont.

Norwich University Sherriff awarded the VWHE Carol A Moore Scholarship

Vermont Women in Higher Education (VWHE) awarded its annual professional development scholarship to Norwich University Associate Professor Gina Sherriff in December to support her work in mentoring women on campus. The scholarship, named after Lyndon State College’s former president, Carol A Moore, recognizes women working in Vermont higher education who aspire to advance their careers. This scholarship awards up to $1,000 for professional development.
