Bradley receives GBIC's highest Lifetime Economic Development Achievement Award

The Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation (GBIC) presented its highest recognition award to Jo Bradley, CEO of the Vermont Economic Development Authority (VEDA), at its 64th Annual Meeting on June 20, 2018 at the ECHO Leahy Center on the Burlington Waterfront. Attended by approximately 300 members of the Northwest Vermont community, GBIC presented the 2018 C Harry Behney Lifetime Economic Development Achievement Award to Jo Bradley, CEO of VEDA.

People's United Financial, Inc names Barnes Chairman of the Board, and Carter Lead Director

People's United Financial, Inc, the holding company for People's United Bank, NA, has named Jack Barnes Chairman of the Board for both People's United Financial, Inc and People's United Bank, NA. Barnes will also remain CEO of both companies. Concurrently, the independent members of the Board of Directors unanimously agreed to appoint George Carter, currently Chairman of the Board for both companies, as Lead Director. The new appointments of Barnes and Carter are part of a long-term strategic Board succession plan.

Con Hogan award winner brings research on Finland’s after school programs back to Vermont

Holly Morehouse, co-founder and executive director of Vermont Afterschool, Inc, used the $15,000 Con Hogan cash award she received last year to continue her research on youth programs in Finland that will inform her work here in Vermont. Finnish students have among the highest test scores in the world while having one the shortest school days.

Secretary of State Condos appoints Hibbert as Director of Professional Regulation

Secretary of State Jim Condos announced today that S Lauren Hibbert has been named the next Director of the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation (OPR). Hibbert has worked at OPR since 2011, serving in the roles of Chief Prosecuting Attorney and as General Counsel for the licensing division. Secretary Condos stated, “Lauren was one of my first hires and has been a leader in the office ever since. I know Lauren appreciates serving the public as much as I do and I look forward to seeing her continue the trajectory of excellence we’ve experienced at OPR over the years.”
