Lozier joins SVMC Pediatrics

Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) welcomes Jaclyn Dy Lozier, MD, to SVMC Pediatrics and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians. Lozier completed her residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey. She received both her medical and bachelor’s degrees at the University of the City of Manila College of Medicine in the Philippines. In addition to her residency, she completed month-long observerships in the geriatric-psychiatric unit and in the pediatric emergency department at St.

Bullock named to SVHC Deerfield Valley Regional Advisory Board

The Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) Deerfield Valley Regional Advisory Board welcomes Chad Bullock. The SVHC Deerfield Valley Regional Advisory Board consists of 10 members. Members are nominated by members of the group or by the health system. The SVHC Foundation’s mission is to engage in development and fundraising activities exclusively for the support of the Southwestern Vermont Health Care Corporation.

Former Health Commissioner Chen to lead UVM’s Center for Health and Wellbeing

Dr Harry Chen has been named executive director of the Center for Health and Wellbeing and public health officer at the University of Vermont. He begins work on October 15. Dr Chen served as commissioner of the Vermont Department of Health for six years. He was also a three-term Vermont State Representative and served as acting secretary of the Vermont Agency of Human Services. While serving as acting secretary, Dr Chen was a co-chair of the President’s Commission for Alcohol, Cannabis and other Drug Use at UVM.

Geiger joins Davis and Hodgdon accounting firm

Jocelyn Geiger has joined Davis & Hodgdon Associates CPAs as an Associate Accountant. Jocelyn is a graduate of Lyndon State College, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Administration.

Jocelyn’s prior experience includes internships in the finance departments of Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital and a Vermont utility company. Her financial experience also includes three years managing a small business’ bookkeeping, as well as budget development for a new recreational department in Lyndon, Vermont.

Burlington Clerk and Treasurer’s Office honored with recognition for financial reporting

Mayor Miro Weinberger today announced that the City of Burlington has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

This is the second consecutive year that Burlington has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement. Burlington was awarded the certificate for the first time in its history in 2017. The only other Vermont recipients of the award have been St. Albans and the State of Vermont.

Champlain College professor selected for Television Academy Foundation's 2018 Faculty Seminar Program

Van Dora Williams, an associate professor and program director of Broadcast Media Production, Filmmaking and Sonic Arts in the Division of Communication and Creative Media at Champlain College, has been selected to participate in the Television Academy Foundation’s 2018 Faculty Seminar Program. Members of the Television Academy selected 25 professors from colleges and universities nationwide to participate in the prestigious program.

BSD’s Gallese chosen as an ‘Afterschool Ambassador’ in US

Burlington School District (BSD) and the Afterschool Alliance are proud to announce that Christy Gallese, BSD’s Director of Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO), has been selected to serve as a 2018-2019 Afterschool Ambassador. She is one of just 15 leaders in the country chosen for the honor this year. In addition to leading their local afterschool program, Afterschool Ambassadors serve one-year terms for the Afterschool Alliance, organizing public events, communicating with policymakers, and working to grow awareness and support for afterschool and summer learning programs.
