The Vermont Art Council announces the 15 recipients of its most sought-after award, the Creation Grant, which supports Vermont artists in creating new work. Among this year’s winning proposals are works that span visual arts, literary arts, dance, music, circus arts, and multidisciplinary fields, including a poetry collection about growing up as a Korean American adoptee in rural Vermont; a solo dance show integrating aerial work and nonbinary, disabled identity; and several works that explore climate change.

The Board of Directors of the Peoples Trust Company is pleased to announce that Frank J. Cioffi has been named Chairman of the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors elected Frank as Chairman of the Board via a unanimous vote of approval at their regularly scheduled Board meeting on Monday, August 17, 2020. Frank was first elected to the Peoples Trust Company Board in 2008 and also serves on the bank’s Asset Liability Management /Loan Committee.

Barre Elks Lodge held their annual Member recognition/appreciation awards at the Lodge on July 23. Awards and honors were presented for the fraternal year ending March 31 by Barb Watters, Exalted Ruler for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. (Postponed from March 27, 2020).

The Lund Board of Directors unanimously endorsed Patricia (Tricia) Coates to be the next executive leader of Lund, whose mission is to help children and families thrive with programs and services that break cycles of poverty, addiction and abuse. Coates has served as Lund’s interim executive director since December, 2019.

The Union Mutual Companies recently announced the promotion of Alexis Burrall to Assistant Vice President, Marketing. Having graduated from The University of Vermont in 2009, Burrall began her career in financial planning for a Boston, Massachusetts-based company. With prior experience in public relations, Burrall joined the Company in 2012 as Marketing Coordinator. Most recently she served as the Companies’ Director of Marketing overseeing Agency Management, Marketing and Sales efforts throughout the New England and New York territories.
