Vermont Business Magazine Caledonia Spirits - the popular Vermont-based distiller of Barr Hill Gin, Barr Hill Vodka, and Tom Cat Gin – has added a very different item to its production line this week in an effort to help the local cause. With the raw materials needed to make hand sanitizer already on hand, the distillery’s team got together and started producing it for local nonprofit organizations. Its first delivery was to the Vermont Foodbank yesterday.
During a time when products like hand sanitizer are at peak demand, Caledonia Spirits, based in Montpelier, is trying to do what it can to contribute to what is now a global fight against the spread of COVID-19.
The distillery has committed to making 1,500 units of hand sanitizer for first responders in Vermont and the state will pay Caledonia Spirits for their raw materials. They plan on continuing to make this hand sanitizer for additional local organizations while its supplies last.
Smugglers' Notch Distillery also is producing hand sanitizer.
