Vermont Business Magazine This July the Fletcher Free Library (FFL) will celebrate 150 years of serving the community. Their birthday celebration will be held on Saturday, July 15th from 12:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the Main Library. All events are free and open to the public. The celebration will include a parade, performers, music, community art, birthday cake, and more. The celebration will begin with a costume parade down Church Street at noon. Each participant is invited to come dressed as their Favorite Literary Character or Author or to carry a favorite book.

Vermont Business Magazine After 20 years as local host of Morning Edition, Mitch Wertlieb is passing the mic to colleague and All Things Considered co-host Jenn Jarecki. Wertlieb will stay at Vermont Public to host The Frequency, Vermont Public’s daily news podcast, beginning this fall. Wertlieb’s last day on Morning Edition will be Friday, July 28 from 6-9 a.m. The show will feature special guests and celebrate his incredible run. Listeners can send “thank you!” messages that may play during his last Morning Edition by emailing a voice memo to [email protected] or leaving a message at 802-552-8899.
Vermont Business Magazine The Southwestern Vermont Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Manchester Business Association (MBA), hosted their annual golf tournament, the B2B Golf Classic, on Wednesday, June 21 at the Mount Anthony Country Club in Bennington, Vermont. A sunny and warm day saw 20 teams, composed of over 80 business and nonprofit leaders, hit the greens for a shotgun start at 12pm at the course. The two organizations invited the public and business leaders to enjoy an afternoon of golf and networking while taking in the scenic vistas including the Bennington Monument and the Taconic and Green Mountain Ranges. The event served as a day out of the office and an opportunity to network with local business people. Additionally, the event served as a fundraiser for both the Chamber and MBA.
Vermont Business Magazine The 2023 Craft Beer Marketing Awards (CBMAs) "Crushie" winners were announced recently LIVE from the 2023 Craft Brewers Conference in Nashville, TN. The ceremony was streamed on Facebook LIVE. The winning entries can be viewed on the 2023 Winners Gallery. Switchback Brewing Company in Burlington won a Platinum award and Burlington Beer Company won two Gold awards.
Vermont State Police The investigation into Friday afternoon’s fatal crash that killed a Rutland City Police Department officer remains active and ongoing. Numerous law-enforcement resources have been brought to bear on this complex case. The officer who died is identified as Jessica Ebbighausen, 19, of Ira. She started working with the Rutland Police Department on May 23 as a part-time, Level 2-certified officer. She was slated to begin training at the Vermont Police Academy next month to become a full-time officer.

VermontBiz The Vermont Department of Public Safety has released a guide on Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs), aimed at providing prosecutors, law enforcement officers, family and household members, and community members with a clear understanding of the process to obtain an ERPO.
ERPOs, also known as “red flag laws,” allow courts to issue an order that temporarily restricts access to dangerous weapons for individuals who are deemed to be at an elevated risk of harming themselves or others. According to early research, ERPOs can be effective in preventing gun deaths, including suicides and mass shootings.

REALTORS® and Affiliate members raise funds each year to fund charitable initiatives across Chittenden, Franklin, and Grand Isle Counties. This year’s tournament proceeds will fund Spectrum Youth and Family Services, Committee on Temporary Shelter (C.O.T.S), HomeShare VT, and Martha’s Community Kitchen.
