ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. - Champlain Valley Exposition, Inc. re-elected five board members and announced its officers for 2008-2009 following its annual meeting held on May 21.
Elected to serve three-year terms on the board: Jeffrey B. Carr of Essex Junction, Jeffrey L. Davis of Underhill Center, Norbert B. Lavigne of Burlington, Robert A. McEwing of Essex and Timothy R. Miller of Williston.
The one-year term 2008-09 officers are: President Matthew B. Stevens of Essex Junction, Co-Vice Presidents Jeffrey B. Carr of Essex Junction and Norbert B. Lavigne of Burlington, Treasurer Kevin Marchand of JMM & Associates of Burlington, Corporate Secretary, Walter G. Bruska of Shelburne, and Acting Recording Secretary Rose Sutton of South Burlington.

to identify process for inspection of the states nuclear plant

(June 6, 2008) The legislation requiring
the inspection of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant was be signed into law
today by Governor Jim Douglas. The bill, S 364, provides guidelines for the
steps to be taken in the evaluation of the operating systems within the nuclear
plant in Vernon, Vermont.
The safe and reliable operation of Vermont Yankee remains a top
priority, said Governor Douglas. While there is an existing NRC
process that examines the safety of nuclear facilities, participation by Vermont in this inspection
will significantly enhance the process and provide us an opportunity to make
certain that safety is paramount.

Governor and VEDA Announce New $18 Million Economic Growth Program
Montpelier, Vt. - Governor Jim Douglas and Vermont Economic Development Authority (VEDA) CEO Jo Bradley today announced the July 1 launch of a new economic growth program offering low interest capital for Vermont businesses with rates as low as three percentage points below Wall Street Prime.
The Economic Recovery and Opportunity Program will utilize $1.25 million in funds approved by the Legislature as part of Governor Douglas' 15-point Economic Growth Initiative.
"This component of my Economic Growth Initiative will enable Vermont's employers to access very affordable financing, contribute to our state's economic growth and create jobs for Vermonters," said Governor Douglas.

The trio of local women is creating a new focus for the business: holistic wellness for all ages and fitness levels, with a special emphasis on baby boomer clients. Governor Douglas and Coalition of Northeastern Governors Urge House to Pass Additional $1 Billion for LIHEAP Funding
Waterbury, VT-The Coalition of Northeastern Governors (CONEG) yesterday (May 29, 2008) urged House leaders to support an additional $1 billion for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), as originally proposed by the Senate, in the FY2008 supplemental appropriations bill.
CONEG, which is chaired by Governor Jim Douglas, is requesting that the House support allocating these funds equally between the regular LIHEAP block grant and emergency contingency programs, and that such funds are released in a timely manner to address the needs of the most vulnerable low-income households in the upcoming cooling and the heating seasons.
