Vermont Business Magazine Former Vermont Governor Madeleine Kunin and House and Senate Majority Leaders, Representative Jill Krowinski (D-Burlington) and Senator Becca Balint (D-Brattleboro), called on Governor Phil Scott in a statement issued today to stand with other Republican governors who have demanded that the Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court nomination be delayed.

Larry Hogan of Maryland, Charlie Baker of Massachusetts and John Kasich of Ohio have all called for independent probes to investigate the three sexual assault allegations that have come to light since Kavanaugh was first nominated in July. Kunin, Balint, and Krowinski want Scott to call for similar action. They say Vermonters want a thorough investigation of Kavanaugh before any vote to confirm him for a lifetime appointment.

Vermont Business Magazine Keurig Dr Pepper (NYSE: KDP) today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire CORE Nutrition LLC at a value of $525 million, or approximately $435 million net of anticipated tax benefits. Founded in 2015, the rapidly growing Core Nutrition portfolio includes CORE Hydration, a premium, nutrient-enhanced bottled water, and CORE Organic, USDA-certified organic enhanced fruit hydration, both currently distributed by KDP.

The acquisition of CORE® Nutrition will be funded with KDP common stock, net of KDP's current equity investment and certain other contractual adjustments. The company said in a press release that it expects the transaction to be neutral to KDP's adjusted diluted earnings per share in 2019 and accretive thereafter.

The Program anticipates awarding more than 75 grants totaling more than $890,000 to local organizations, municipalities, and educational institutions. Vermont Business Magazine Attorney General TJ Donovan announced that Vermont and 49 states and the District of Columbia have reached an agreement with California-based ride-sharing company Uber Technologies, Inc. The settlement addresses the company’s one-year delay in reporting a data breach to its affected drivers. Vermont will receive $600,000 as its portion of the settlement. Uber’s payments across the country total $148 million.

Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Economic Development Authority (VEDA) has approved $7.4 million in financing to support manufacturing, agricultural, small business and energy development projects throughout Vermont. Among the awardees were: Smugglers' Notch Distillery; Northern Gas Transport, Inc; Flex-A-Seal, Inc; Packetized Energy Technologies, Inc; The Afterschool Collaborative; Kid Logic Learning; Londonderry Community Solar; and Eurowest Solar.

"Manufacturing and other jobs will be created by a number of Vermont businesses approved for VEDA financing," said Jo Bradley, VEDA's Chief Executive Officer. "In addition, VEDA's Farm Operating Loan Program continues to provide cash flow relief to Vermont's dairy farmers to help them withstand the pressures of several years of low milk prices."
